    Solar Farm #2, dangers involved.

We may have discovered a way to make the upcoming 1200+ acre solar farm acceptable to residents. There is a Kentucky law that says an electric generating plant must be at least 1000' from property lines. A county ordinance could decrease this distance, but it cannot be increased. So the closest...

    Packing for a trip

Leaving this afternoon for a week in a city two-three hours away. What amazes me is the packing we do now as opposed to when we were in our twenties. My shaving kit is still the same BUT packing all the electronics and their associated chargers...... It is a pain in the *****. I-phones chargers...

Just spent $468.07 on Valentines Gifts

Yep, bought fire extinguishers for both the daughter's houses and ours too! There were two little girls that died in a house fire not too far from where we live. This happened last month. When I started looking for the news story on the tragedy I came upon several stories of children perishing...

    Solenoid chattering

Was going to put wife on mower to mow leaves while I used leaf blower but it won't start. Battery showed charged but I put my starter on it anyway and it still chattered. Shorted across terminals and it turned over for a second but I let the screwdriver slip off. Never could get it to turn over...

Read if you have vision problems.

I took my mother to her eye doctor, ophthalmologist or whatever, yesterday. He told her the same thing my sister was told by another doctor last month and I was told by mine a couple months ago. If you have eye trouble of any kind there is a vitamin formula sold over the counter that can help...

    Life's simple pleasures.

One of the simple pleasures of being the father of daughters is drying and combing out their hair. Guess it is because you have a captive audience and can have a serious or not-so-serious conversation while doing so. Today was the first time I have been able to do this with my seven year old...

Stupidest thing I have done all year, well this year!

Had my left knee replaced in August. Been doing well but still have some pain and swelling. So I go out today to take the forks off the bucket on my little tractor. There was some mud on one of them and I got my big rubber mallet to knock it off. I was looking at a neighbor's house when I...

Knee Surgery Update #2,... or #3,...anyway

I went back for my three month checkup on Tuesday the 22nd. Had a list of gripes for the doctor. My knee is still swollen somewhat, not as bad as a month ago but still swollen. The knee pops with every step I take. It seems so loud to me that it is hard to believe my wife can't hear it while...

    Gladiator Storage Units

Have been looking for some good metal cabinets to store stuff in for my shop. Stopped by a local Lowes and they had the 'Gladiator' brand on sale for 40-45% off regular price. Plus I used my Lowes credit card and got another 5% off. I had looked at these units earlier in the year but thought...

I need Loctite in yellow tube!!

We have used our last bit that I liberated from my previous employer. It is better than liquid bandage for sealing small cuts. I worked in a radial tire assembly factory and the steel belt edges would tear the workers fingers and hands all to pieces. There was a vending machine were the...

    Great-great-niece saved by helicopter.

The following account comes from my sister, the great grandmother and is, at best, third hand. On Wednesday August 31st my five month old great, great niece woke up a little fussy. As the day wore on she started to run a little temp. Her mother treated her with Tylenol and put her to bed. Next...

    Three Legged Chicken

Have been trying to put this on here for a couple weeks but with everything going on I just hadn't been able. So finally I am off the pain pills enough that I am going to give it a try. Wifey and I were driving along Bachusburg Road. Not really going anywhere, just a typical Sunday drive in...

    I have a new knee!

Haven't walked on it yet but will this afternoon. Dr Patel told wife and family that my knee was "nasty". Said one of roughest he has seen. Everybody at the hospital have been super nice to myself and my family. And they are giving me GOOD drugs. Our preacher came by and gave me a roll of...

Preparing for knee surgery next Monday

It did not sink in to me how bad my knee was until I had to quit taking Naproxen Sodium (Aleve) ten days before the surgery. Surgery is the 29th so I haven't taken any since the nineteenth. My knee aches all the time and at times hurts bad enough to bring tears to my eyes. Formerly I would take...

    Bought a Shotgun today.

My oldest granddaughter is seven, the next three, different moms and dads. My youngest granddaughter is one and there is a grandson on the way in October. Once again, different moms. So I have been shopping for a single shot break open 410 shotgun. I wanted an H&R but they were bought by...

    You know...

You know that you are a granddaddy with granddaughters when you know all the Strawberry Shortcake characters. If you don't know what I'm talking about just move on. Also helps when you know how to paint very small toenails.

    Squirrel War of 2016

After posting last year of our neighborhood war on squirrels, neighbor shot 153 off a one acre lot, I thought I would have a 2016 year so far update. After more than 200 killed off four acres last year we have only killed around fifteen or twenty this year. The reason why is feathered. A nest of...

Suggestions for Mower for 91-year old?

My mother is 91-years old and loves mowing her yard. She mows a little less than four acres a week. Her old mower is a 10-year old Husqvarna. It is worn out. Needs new tires, left front axle and assembly (mowed 10 acres with a wheel bearing out) and many other things. Cost more to fix than the...

    Roundup under flower beds

Yes another project before the last two are finished. We bought the grandkids a swing set for their birthdays because the older, smaller one was destroyed by moving it every time my daughter and son-In-law mowed. So we are building a play area for the set using landscape timbers. My question is...

    Fishing.

Took my soon to be seven year old granddaughter fishing this morning. She caught six small bluegill. THEN her bobber went under and didn't come up. The fish jumped clear of the water twice. Don't know who was more exited, me or her. Her little reel wouldn't pull it in and I had to grab the line...

    Getting rid of old gas.

Helped a friend clean up her dad's house after he died. I ended up with several gas cans that she couldn't use. The gas is at least 18 months old. So I am using about a quart to half gallon every time I fill up the Bad Boy. Does anybody see any problems, have another solution?
