It might go to the brake valve use to keep it full of oil. Normally there is a line like that coming off of the main hydraulic case drain.

My guess i a weak spot in the line. Braze a patch on it and go on.

The problem is the bolts are junk they have a very sharp stress point under the head. I had the same issue.

Just replace the hose and you will be fine. Nothing wrong with your control valve even a new one will leak by the spool a little bit. There isn’t any Orings in the valve to prevent it from leaking a little bit internally. DJ54 is creating a problem that doesn’t exist.

Look at your last picture. The pipe weld is clearly broken on the bottom. Just needs realignment and welded.

Your mapp torch should work fine, I use propane torch for jobs like this. Don’t clamp weld area in a vise it will steal your heat. You should have no problem finding a generic seal for your tractor.

I wouldn’t have used copper, but it might be okay. I have repaired many of these lines. I would use a piece of steel and form it to cover up the hole and silver braze it up. What kind of silver rod are you using? Many times I have used common bronze brazing rod. Send photo if you can.

Moving the dirt isn’t the problem, compaction is. Needs to be compacted in 3” to 5” layers with plenty of water to ever think about being done right.

For my rock hard clay pasture I rigged up a gas powered pressure washer, using a screw on tip I use it as a probe and go straight down and make a wet hole then the post drives easily into the wet hole.

About half way or maybe a little more. Tap bit and check it, don’t go too far or it will bottom out and wont seal.

Don’t cut and weld, chain the one that’s ahead of the other one back and use hydraulics to push the other forward. 5 minutes and done and no welds or paint damage.

The shaft is all ready gaulded that’s why the coupler wont come off. Heat isn’t going to do any good. may have to cut it off to have any chance of saving the crankshaft.

Take it apart, the date made is usually stamped on the key that keeps the jaw from turning.

That won’t work with ORB fittings you need the proper Oring.

How is anyone supposed to see where its leaking with that filthy mess. Get it cleaned up and you can see the leak. don’t run it that way pump is cavtating.

Do what every old farmer I know does, clean them with either. Always some rolling around in the cab.

Go get you a job at McDonald’s and save up and buy a proper tractor.

Your power steering pump is cavitating, you need to figure out why its short on oil or getting air into the suction.

No you don’t check or fill there. It’s either the transaxle or separate tank. That appears to be the steering valve.

both the first JD guy and for sure the hydraulic shop is just plain lazy, no to get the right parts the first time. A good hydraulic shop can look up and get the aftermarket seals witch are just as good or better than JDs just too lazy to look them up.

Trust me it works great you can see between the hood and the loader boom and see the ground, even pickup a trailer Thats almost on the ground. The one above the hood is in the way of seeing what you are trying to hook up.

Changing oil and filter won’t fix tractor. Are you sure it don’t have a separate tank and pump for the steering? Can’t see what 17 is on parts list.

Them sprockets with chain wrapped around them are good and proper couplers. You just need to find the master link and remove it and unwrap the chain off of the sprockets.

You don’t need to remove the rod to weld it just extend it all the way and wrap a wet towel around it. It looks bent to me be sure to check it.

At least its the bolt that broke, on mine the casting where the bolt screws in was broke from the previous owner. They repaired it and its been fine for the 23 years I have owned it.

Just reseal the one you have, Orings are cheap. don’t buy cheap Orings from Harbour Freight or box store. Go to a real tractor or hydraulic store or order on line. faucet Orings are not what you need.

I don’t know about Cat, but the old John Deere’s closed center systems had a destroking solenoid that actually turned off the pump when the starter motor was engaged.

They are held in with the tie bolt that holds the valve stack together. Might get lucky and be able to remove 1 bolt and the plug will come out. Replace them all while you have them apart. It’s an open center system and only leaks when you build pressure.

Your valve is junk they didn’t know what they were doing and killed it. Time for a new valve.
