    Good morning!!!!

2022-11-10, 0354 39° right now...high about 60 today... Wifey and stepdaughter made it home, safe and sound. Margeaux, as expected, was a happy pup. Be heading into work in a couple hours...

    Had a couple drinks there, Arly? 🤪 🤪 🤪 🤪 🤪
  8. RoyJackson

Width of Snow Plow to Buy?

In your situation, I'd say you need a snow blower
  9. RoyJackson

Width of Snow Plow to Buy?

Nope, never measured the width...just an eyeball WAG. 15 degrees does fine and less pushing the tractor
  10. RoyJackson

Width of Snow Plow to Buy?

8" total...little more is better, but 8" (4" per side) is the minimum. My blade is 6', so if I angle a full 30°, my rear tires width is a bit wider than the plowing width. So, I never angle the blade more than 15°
  11. RoyJackson

Width of Snow Plow to Buy?

Same here...for nuisance snows (<5"), the blade is quicker...
  12. RoyJackson

Width of Snow Plow to Buy?

7 foot...once you angle the blade, you'll lose the width you will plow. 6 foot would probably result in a width less than the maximum width of your tractor

What current member has been with TBN the longest?

Gotta disagree with that. Bird doesn't post every day but does (in the Good Morning forum) at least once every week or two. Initially, TBN was mostly for Kubota owners...not sure when it expanded to other brands
  17. RoyJackson

    Good morning!!!!

Actually, I do have some to use in the garage...I'd written in a post a few days ago about having to grease the tractor's front axle...and that's what I use the cardboard for...lying under the tractor. The cardboard taken to the dump goes into a big dumpster (separate from the other trash). I...

2022-11-09, 0608 26 right now...high in the low 50's today... Just got a call from my stepdaughter...she and wife are heading to the Gillette airport for a series of flights home. They should be home about 1730 today... Gotta do something about Margeaux's barking...and she is a barker...

    Good morning!!!!

    Good morning!!!!

2022-11-08, 0449 42 right now...not going to get too much warmer with a high of 46 today. Got a couple webinars, but, if possible, I'm going to try to fit in a dump run since I didn't do it last Saturday. While I'm out, I'll get a couple gallons of gas for the ZTR and, most importantly, VOTE!!!!

    Z930M on order -> Arrived

Don't think there were ever hoods on the Deere commercial ZTR's (except for the diesel engined 997). My Z920 is a 2007-2008 model with no hood is almost identical to the new Z930, except a bit less horsepower

    Attach a snowblower to yanmar

There is no best distance...you need to attach the PTO driveshaft to the blower (but not to the tractor), raise the 3PH so the blower input shaft is as level to the tractor's output stub shaft as you can eyeball As written before, that's the shortest distance. If the drive shaft has enough...

    Attach a snowblower to yanmar

Yep, both will add about 4"... Disconnect the tractor end of the PTO shaft and raise your 3PH so the blower input stub shaft is in line with the tractor's stub shaft. This is the shortest distance between the tractor and implement. See if you can connect the PTO driveshaft. If the PTO driveshaft...

Looking for opinions re: chain stabilizers vs rigid tube stabilizers for lift arms.

I raise the implement up a couple feet and swing it back and forth until it's approximately centered, then slide the pin in the best fit hole. The other side, I can't normally find a best fit hole, so I pin the slotted hole. Raise and lower the 3PH to see if there's no binding and adequate...

Looking for opinions re: chain stabilizers vs rigid tube stabilizers for lift arms.

I've had both chains and the tube type. If properly adjusted, both work fine. My chain type stabilizers were on a Deere 670 and 790...both "budget" tractors. The tube type have been on "higher" end tractors....4400, 4520 and current 4052R. IMHO, the tube types are easier to adjust, IF they're...

I have an SB74 blower as well. I bought it used 4-5 years go (maybe more) and it's probably 8-10 years old. I've have had few problems other than one shear bolt and the chute clogging. Actually, the 4520 I had before 4052 had more HP and, more importantly, more torque... Short outing with the wifey...just to Lebanon NH Walmart. After wandering around for 20 minutes or so, she got what she wanted...which wasn't much. Probably just needed to get out for a bit. Unfortunately, and surprisingly, they didn't have the GP grease I needed. The automotive section was a...

    Inverted snow blower

I have an older Frontier (Deere brand) 3PH blower...push type. I'd love to trade this for an inverted blower...since I'm not doing commercial work, a Meteor or even an Agri-Fab, should do the job. So, how about some reviews and prices?

2022-10-23, 0702 32° right now...high in the mid-60's... maybe... Too early to do anything, but rigging the snow gear and greasing the tractor is on the agenda today. I'm not going out for fuel for the mower. I'll do that when I have a need to go somewhere...this week sometime. Mulched the...

Lifting safe - Ballast Box needed?

True...but a backhoe is mighty expensive ballast. I've had a backhoe...never had much need for one, but it came with the Deere 4520 I bought (I wanted the tractor for the cab, not the 'hoe). Frankly, unless one has a need for a 'hoe, it's a waste of money

The only thing "bad" about buying a mini excavator is the money required. I have little need for a mini excavator...but if I did, I'd rent. Good planning for multiple tasks makes the rental worthwhile, IMHO.

    Storing implements for the winter.

Chipper goes in a shed, lubed and I remove the PTO shaft. The flail mower is outside, but covered with a tarp. The bucket is removed and stored outside on a pallet, as are the pallet forks. The snow blower and blade are mounted on the tractor for snow removal

    Good morning!!!!

They are handy, if you have use for one. I had one on my last tractor (Deere 4520). IIRC, it was a 448 mounted on a subframe. I really had no use for a backhoe...dug one hole with it and it was quite powerful for a CUT mounted 'hoe. Anyway, I sold it after about a year. Most of that year, it was...

Mowing, what I could do (mostly mulching leaves) is done...one task complete. We got the sofa (from a friend/co-worker of my stepdaughter). Very good...
  132. RoyJackson

    Good morning!!!!

Got the sofa, made the dump run...no haircut (shop had too many customers to wait). That leaves the mowing and rigging the snow gear on the Deere. Still a bit wet to mow...maybe a snap (short nap) for an hour or so...
  133. RoyJackson

Lifting safe - Ballast Box needed?

Ballast Boxes are handy...don't take up much room...very compact on the 3PH (unlike most implements) and can be used as a carry-all if one uses weight that can be removed. Mine, which I've had for many years, is filled with sand. I'd estimate the weight at 600-700 pounds. The best part, IMHO, is...

Lifting safe - Ballast Box needed?

I think your 3046 has enough weight (especially if the rear tires are filled) to handle 750 lbs. without 3PH ballast. 750 lbs. isn't really that much weight. However, I do advise you to get a ballast box (or fabricate one). For heavier lifting, the box is the perfect implement to balance out the...

Good question...in fact, I referred to "chuck and duck" in an early post.... I should have clearer what I was referring to. For one thing, the "chuck and duck" use a high-speed drum chipper. The manual chippers we use don't. Feed (either manual or hydraulic) isn't really too fast (unlike a...

    TMG chipper

"Chuck and Duck", as explained in an earlier post in this thread, refers to the big commercial chippers...especially the old ones, that use a drum type chipper. Our little PTO driven machines don't have the power to kick back with any real force. It's still not a good idea to stand directly...

When I had the Woods 5000 chipper, I normally cut the trunks to 5 or 6 foot lengths for easier handling. "Chuck and Duck" refers to the big self-powered commercial chippers...man killers...especially the older machines. Lift pallet of wood pellets with front loader hack?

I agree...and a lot depends on the size of the tractor. Even with filled tires, a heavy enough load on the FEL could transfer weight from the rear to the front axle (becoming the pivot point). That's not a good idea. I have a sand filled ballast box, but if I have an implement on the 3PH...
