Good morning, started out in the 30's going to 60 today

Wood fire in living room is going making it very comfortable. Heating oil tank is full but do not expect to use it much. The basement furnace (Yukon) is 120,000 BTU and burns both oil or wood but only use it on very cold days.

When I was up feeding cats at the barn it was still dark outside and think I saw some light down in the meadow at the creek. I was moving closer to get a better look and shining my flashlight in that direction but then the light disappeared.
Not sure if it was real or could be someone trying to hunt on our property? May not be safe to walk down there while dark outside. I will get the RTV today and go down there to see if there are any signs that someone has been there

quiet weekend planned, might go for a drive to see last of leaves.
Good morning! 54˚F heading to the mid 60s, cloudy NW wind 18mph. With the wind this will be a cold day for Texas.

Unlike Drew's weekend, this weekend will be packed, it is the last full late night all events weekend of the Fall Festival which means the biggest crowds. Both tractors are scheduled to work 2 shifts each, both days. With the 1" rain yesterday morning it will not be dusty but maybe a tad muddy. So this will either be the perfect Fall day for the "Farm" or appear to be too cold with the overcast skies and the wind.

Ron, Whipper thinks Sassy is the same size as a cat and needs to roll in cow manure to at least get the correct doggy smell, she can help.

I've noticed my memory isn't as good as it once was. I'd attributed this to being an older guy. Well, my stepdaughter, who is a pharmacy technician, informed me that one of the many meds I take daily causes memory problems...
Ironically, I forget which one...:unsure::unsure::unsure:

when one thinks of living one's dream, this guy's experience sure spoke to me.
Living on the water, in a safe spot, totally isolated. Your boat nearby, ready for adventure.
and what a front porch.

just surprised he didn't have a lot more solar panels installed.
He needs to let Sodamo and RNG consult with him.
But his new wife is telling him it's time to go.
They already bought their next home.
And they can leave during the worst weather.

I'd want a caretaker there all the time. I wonder if he keeps his floating home
or tries to sell it. Wonder what happens when the styrofoam base finally breaks down?
I suppose you could haul it out piece by piece.
Or send divers down to fix it in place.
Must be quite a natural harbor there, in lee of wind from all directions.

At least with global warming, it will just float higher.
That is something else. Thanks for sharing that video.

I remember reading somewhere that styrafoam takes an extremely long time to break down. I do wonder if it's faster being in salt water.

Morning all, sun is up and going from 39 to 61.
Slept late, but woke up a bunch of times.
Feeling a little better.

Dryer parts came in, so that's on the schedule for today.

Ran the walk behind blower last night and that was enough to wear me out, and that was the only outdoor work I did.

So many deer around, running out of space.

Gotta get something around the new trees so the bucks don't rub them like last year.

stay well and be safe

Good morning to all! Low of 30°, going up to around 60°. Sunny, calm this morning, breezes at 15-20 mph this afternoon. No more chances of precip until mid next week.

The wifey is very pleased with the additional shelf and grow light setup ---

Hard to get a good pic with the UV glare, but you get the idea.... It's not the prettiest, but will get the job done.

Ron, you definitely chose the right name... she is standing there all 'Sassy' looking.... definitely still cute as all get-out!

Drew, there is a whole flotilla of floating houses somewhere up in the Seattle area.... amazing houses. I think it was an old marina that was sold, then the new buyer built the first house, starting a 'trend'.

Phil, good news indeed about the wifey. Hope she heals quickly!

Doug, sorry about the hand pain preventing any flying.

RS, sounds like the barn project is moving along nicely!

Watched "Modern Marvels" last night. One segment was one 'survival shelters'. Half a million bucks for a biological, chemical, and nuclear proof room! I f things ever got that bad.... I just don't think that I would want to be around in the aftermath of destruction.....even if I had enough money to afford something like that.

Going to be very nice weather this weekend, hopefully I'll get all the outside chores wrapped up. Oil changes are first up on the list. Then wifey wants a small platform built to put the Christmas tree on.... at least she gave me some lead time..... Won't be hard to do, just some time. I don't even have to make it look pretty.....

The rain gauge had another 1/8" in it from the snow showers. Brings the total rain for October up to 4 5/8" --- almost a third of our yearly average amount. I still need to run the drip sometime over the next week, need to make sure there's enough moisture for the fall / winter transition. I'm surprised that a lot of our trees are still holding onto their leaves. Some aren't even turning colors yet, others dropped all but a few leaves.... The weeds and grasses gave up growing for the year.

For some unknown reason, I have misplaced my motivation this morning.... I need to go search for it.....

Everyone have a great day!

Forgot to mention.... we were disappointed in our Cracker Barrel dinner last evening. The portions were much smaller and definitely lesser quality than before. It's been a few years since last going there, I guess all the shortages of labor and supplies took its toll.....
Maybe we just got used to all 'home cooking'.

2 chores done...dump run and haircut...3, actually...got the grease too.
Wifey and stepdaughter heading to the grocery store. Margeaux hates when they leave...she bays and howls like she's lost her best friends.
48° right now...forgot to get gas for the mower, so that's going to wait. The tractor maintenance can go on though when they get home...
