Got back a bit later than normal. Boy, I paid attention to prices and WOW. To drive home the point, we stopped at local liquor store for a bottle of Sambuca, up $6 since last one.
Also made an extra stop, necessitated by nature. The public facilities located next to Tex Drive In, home of the best malasadas. Had to sample 1 still warm from fryer as well as bring some home.
Stopped at library to get our physical library cards. Sophie may give audible books a try being as book reading has become a challenge.
Got everything unloaded and put away before it started to sprinkle.

40° right now...high in the mid-70's...

good morning all
Thomas, so sorry your wife is in hospital, hope they got her out of pain quickly and with good prognosis. We worry about our own health but nothing
like worrying about those you love.
Mark, hope procedure helps your wife, sounds like she has had a tough year, prayers sent for better health
Dennis, keeping the Subaru makes sense, particularly since you are a good mechanic.

5.39 inches later that rain event has finally cleared out, leaving nice clear Fall weather, low 70's for next few days
pretty sure floor in detached garage flooded from all that rain so first thing today I open the door and run a floor fan in there.
Otherwise my power tools will be a mess. Will likely be running an oiled rag over everything today, protect against surface rust.

about half my back yard now torn up by deer digging for grubs. I guess the only way to deal with this is to kill the grubs, just hate putting down chemicals, but
my nice lawn is now a war zone in about six big areas. I thought deer were herbivores, so if so, what is wrecking my lawn?
If not grubs, why are they ripping off the top layer of sod?

will be doing some shrub planting later today, have some asters to plant, ground should be nice to dig in.

poor experience last night at hospital, but only because lady I was helping had her MRI delayed almost two hours, finally had to walk from far end of parking lot in to
MRI area, which was on the far end of the hospital, so quite a hike. When I got there, and asked for status, my phone rang saying she was ready. So back I walked and brought the car around.
Her son normally drives her but he cancelled on her and I got a last minute call. I drank so much coffee trying to stay awake waiting for her had hard time sleeping last night,
and have headache/neck ache this morning. Looking forward to a nice soak in the hot tub.

48 and clear, going to 76.

Prayers for your wife Thomas, and I hope you get some sleep.

My mom had her follow up cardiologist appointment, but it had to be on the phone, because the doctor was having to quarantine. She is doing much better, and was given the okay to drive a short distance to the grocery store. She welcomed that amount of independence.

I don't recall seeing a post from LS in a while. Hope he's just busy.

Don, I've enjoyed reading about the farm where you work. Sorry you have to wear a mask...maybe you can make it double as a Halloween mask.

Congrats on the new Mazda, BEF. Was thinking of you yesterday while in the mountains.

Finished hiking the A/T in Shenandoah National Park yesterday both North to South and South to North. My wife went with me...she attended a Ranger program about bears, then explored the visitor center and gift shop while I was hiking. We concluded with a celebratory lunch at the lodge and split a serving of their famous blackberry cobbler with a scoop of blackberry ice cream. The day started out windy, cloudy and cold, but cleared and became very comfortable. We saw lots of lenticular clouds and deer.

Hopefully grass will dry early today...may have to mow it twice, since I let it go due to the dry weather, and then a week of rainy cool weather.

43F and "Fair" @ 06:30, heading up to a high of around 75F. Don't think there will be too many more days as warm as this in 2022 ...

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful, high hit 75.9F. Big cool front scheduled to come in overnight, with the possibility of some rain ... but it's not supposed to be a significant amount. High temp at midnight is supposed to be 59F and it heads south from there.

Dug out my Carhardt hoodie last night.

Got 1 7/8" trailer ball installed on the box blade and got log splitter moved out of the barn to over here at the house and tires aired up. Think those tires/wheels are actually subject to a recall, need to check that out and see about getting replacements.

Also moved the large spool of URD cable for the electric service out as well.

Woman worked on raking up leaves and debris and I hauled several loads out and took them back in the woods to dump.

Consolidated the (unhung, new) light fixtures onto the pallet that has the doors on it.

Did a little more work on removing nails from old (but still good usable) lumber as well. Hope to get that finished up today.

Storing pallets on bare ground has been a problem as the wood draws moisture and rots the bottoms, so I found a good deal on some plastic pallets and picked up 10 of them.

Ran down to Harbor Freight and exchanged some batteries while I was out, grabbed another 4 gallons of diesel on the way back.

No joy on live trap, stole bait again so I rebaited and set it.

The big push for today will be to get the lumber sort out finished up and get those pallets either tarped or temporarily moved back inside until after the rain.

Refill hopper feeder definitely on agenda for today.

Amazon delivery due in today, as well as the new framing nailer.

Grass needs cut but I probably won't get to it.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday ... (y)
