Good morning!!!!

After 5 days of rain it was sure nice to get out Thursday. Of course after 5 days of rain I was mowing. 2 nice days in the 70s. Looks like it is going to cool down a bit. The grass at the farm is looking really green. I'm figuring out when I need to lift the deflector on the zero turn to keep the grass from clumping up. I have decided I like how it looks when I mow back and forth so the striping shows.

My wife was looking for our daughters social security cards. I can't say why they don't have then themselves. She ended up inventorying the lock box. So she asked me about trailer titles cause she could only find one. I think we found them all but we have one extra. I have no idea what it goes to. I remember an older friend telling me he bought all the same brand of trailer so he only had to keep one licence plate. I can see his point.

The farmer hasn't planted cover crop at the farm yet so I could work on cutting up downed trees and hauling them up to our neighbors house and the farm lane needs mowing and of course there is what ever my wife finds for me to do. She must care for me cause she doesn't seem to want me to be bored.:sneaky:

Have a good weekend.

Good Morning!

God has given is another day to try to get it right!

currently 41.2f here in Appalachia. The chickens are awake, but not down from their perches yet. The later sunrises Are having an effect…

Plans for the day include finishing the Halloween decorations, and FINALLY starting assembly of our sawmill - life has ways of “rearranging” schedules (nothing bad, just things that need prioritizing, like plumbing leaks, vet visits, etc…) to put “wants” behind “needs”.

Yesterday was another good day, got some new attachments (brush hog and scrape blade) and managed to unload them from the trailer without damaging anything or drawing blood 😁👍

I hope everyone’s day brings health and successful ventures!

good morning all
cooler 46 out, high of 60 in sun today
yesterday did not go as planned, was cleaning out garage and within 30 seconds got dizzy and started dry retching.
Something I just don't do....
came inside, drank half a glass of milk, and that sure helped. Hadn't taken my antacid pills that morning and two cups of coffee did me in.
Felt crummy for hours and then by afternoon felt better but called off the driveway scraper build.
Feel fine this morning, one cup of coffee and then a glass of water is probably better for me, long history of acid reflux.

those tractors at the beach are seriously high horsepower for the job. Wonder why they felt they needed 380 hp to pull a sand leveler.
6:30am and still dark out, miss our longer days
Back when I had a bout of GERD I became a HUGE fan of Gaviscon. Feel better!

Drew, At Stone Harbor NJ all the little cottages have been torn down and multi million dollar beach houses have been built, It means that the town is flush with tax money. If the public works department wants tractors they get nice ones and they replace them regularly. I think those beach towns pay the taxes for the whole county they are in.

Our family used to summer in Stone Harbor when we lived in PA 50 yrs ago. I'm happy to remember it the way it was then with all the little cottages.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:00 AM.
Sunny. High 92F. Winds light and variable.

Got a bad case of "While I'm At It"itis yesterday when I went to change the oil and check the valves on the zebra bike. I wanted to use the lift, but the new red bike was parked there, and couldn't be moved until the shock absorber was put back. Did that, then saw the pan of oil under it, so put the drain plug back in and dumped the oil. Lots of metal in the bottom of the pan, so decided to change the oil filter to see if it held more metal. There was none, but found that the shims and o-ring under the oil filter cover had not been installed correctly by the previous owner, which can lead to loss of oil pressure and a destroyed engine. Fixed that, put new oil in, and finally got the red bike off the lift. Got the zebra on the lift, but it was so heavy with fuel and luggage I couldn't jack it up high enough to get it on the center stand. Drained the fuel and unloaded the luggage, but by then it was dinner time. What's that they say about best laid plans? With the weather stuck in a repeat pattern, it feels a lot like groundhog day.

Hoping to get the work done on the zebra bike today, and get a battery back into the touring bike. I'd like to spend Sunday and Monday leaf peeping in the mountains, so I'm hoping not to find any more dragon eggs.

Enjoy the weekend, folks!

My wife's family had a cottage in Stone Harbor. The transformation in that town was remarkable. From year to year I could hardly recognize the street because of the new houses. There was construction going on all the time. Even now people are putting a million into a cottage, tearing it down and building a couple of million dollar home that fills the lot.

Good Morning.
45 going to 55 and sunny with a nice breeze.

Yesterday was a nice day as well, a bit warmer, I figured that I would mow. I got the tractor out around 1, figuring that was plenty of time for the ground to dry, but just driving around to the diesel pump, the tires were completely wet. I got a delivery of off road diesel for $4.89 a gallon, it’s going up every day.

So when I went in the shed to turn the pump on, I walked around the PTO generator that hadn’t been run a a few years, so I figured while the tractor was out, I would exercise it. While moving stuff around to get it out, I noticed shredded rags, so I thought I better check the bait box. It was devoid of bait, but full of mouse nest. So I cleaned it out and refilled the bait. Now while I’m in there moving stuff around, I might as well sweep and organize before putting the generator back inside. In the process of cleaning up, I found a target stand that reminded me that I had been meaning to adjust the sights on the Ruger MkII target pistol. When I got that setup, I remembered that I was going to put some distance marks from the backstop a few years ago. So I had to get the long tape measure reel out and do that. I guess the point is that I’m easily distracted, but the Ruger is sighted in, the generator ran on the load tester for a half hour, I’ve got distance markers on the range, but never did mow. The generator did fine, my load tester isn’t big enough for a full load test, but enough to recharge the residual magnetism so I don’t have to flash the field to bring it to life.

Wasn’t the the day that I planned on, but a productive one nonetheless. I even remembered to load the crockpot to feed the boys. We had a fun get together, just played random stuff from Merle Haggard to Rocky Horror Picture Show’s “Time Warp”. Not really a rehearsal, but a fun time. Did get the grain bins filled, 50lb bags seem heavier today than they did 30 years ago, must be inflation….

Today might get some mowing in, neighbor wants me to help with some electrical work, I have a friend in the hospital waiting for bypass surgery that could use a visit, I would like to go through last night’s session and maybe pull out a sampler to share. Probably another day of ricocheting from one project to the next.

45° right now...heading up to the low 50's today.

Will be making a dump run in the next hour or so...than take a run around the yard to see if it's worth mowing.
I'd say 25%-30% of the leaves are down, and still a lot of green. That'll change in the next few weeks
Sometime this weekend, I'll be putting the chipper away for the season. Probably rig the snow blower although it's probably a month early.

Good post, Popgadget!!! Your day went quite a bit like my outside chores days!
