Mosquitos now driving us nuts. Can't do any mowing as they have forward lines that attack you as soon as you go near the paddocks. Never ever seen them like this before. And they chase us on the scooters now matter how fast you go. About 50 followed me home. Luckily I had a spray can handy or I might not be here the evil little sods.
Eat more garlic. :)

Good (Monday) morning. A mild overnight Low of 9.2C and it's presently 21.4C... yet more rain in the gauge: 8mm at 0900 and it continues to sporadically rain. The wind is also getting up with a State-wide warning posted.

Because of the weather warning I've decided to postpone my trip into Launceston 'til tomorrow. The wind + all of the rain that we continue to have is a recipe for tree and rock-slides happening on our narrow, twisting, passes. But I do have to make that trip fairly soon.

I did get the lawn around the house mowed yesterday. The Z-turn is not a pretty sight after that as I was unable to blow it off after finishing as there was nothing but water outside of the shed. Oh well, driving through the puddles at least cleaned the grass clippings out of the tyres.

That's about it, take care all.

Paul, nice setup on the press! I would like to do that to mine, but really don't use it enough to justify the time or expense.

It was not very expensive, around $60 at HF for everything used. The hard part might be modifying the drum to take two cables.

55F and "Fair" @ 21:30, heading down to around 53F for the overnight low. Rain is on it's way in but probably won't be here for a few more hours. High hit 63.3F here today and it was quite pleasant even if very cloudy.

Got gutter covers completed on the back side of the pole barn:

IMG_2074 copy.jpg

Glad that's finally all done.

Woman was applying BLO to the 2 x 8 x 14's while I was doing that.

After I was done we worked on more clean up.

Also did a little grading to eliminate that puddle.

Then we took down two 8' double fluorescent fixtures that were mounted on the bottom of the trusses and replaced them with two new ones that had the ballasts removed and had LED tubes in them.

Wow ... what a difference that made ... (y)

Also did some checking on circuits and their associated switches while I was up there. I think it's starting to come back to me now.

Had more stuffed peppers tonight for dinner (with crushed red pepper and Parmesan), literally stuffed at this point.

Did not get around to checking hopper feeder or get Cub refueled and did not dispatch Woman to Menards for order pick up (I'll go tomorrow while it's raining)

About to hop in the shower and then kick back on the couch afterwards before I hit the rack.

Really whipped at this point.

Hope everyone had a great Sunday ... (y)

Good evening all. 51ºF for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Light wind, clear sky, and high temp was 71ºF. Chapel to start day, was not ready to get up when alarm went off. Coffee maker failed to heat up first thing this morning. Used Keurig to make coffee. Made pancakes for breakfast, found new coffee maker at Walmart, went and got it after wife's nap. Got my nap in after trip. Energy conservation and football watching otherwise.
Doug Deet is a good mosquito repellent. Glad dogs are gone.
Ron hope tractor transport was safe, and NASCAR was entertaining. Nice pic
Roy hope gun worked well.
Buppies sorry gun you wanted was gone but sounds like wonderful trip.
Phil glad leaves under control. Sorry about lattice work under deck. Glad you got drill press running. I got one from my dad's estate, a Craftsman :)
Billy no motivation here says the hiker :) great pics
Drew shooting off bb or pellet gun in subdivision is a no-no here. I hear stories from police officers that people on drugs are very difficult to incapacitate.
Thomas nice plans
Paul yes you ought to take biplane up. Rule made a lot of sense 40 years ago, but a temperature sounds more appropriate.
Buppies sorry about football traffic.
Frits a lot of us retired people get used to the lack of urgency and don't use time as wisely :(
Rich interesting that you got Heli-coils from UK cheaper than in US. Do you need special size installers? Have fun consulting. Have fun learning start techniques for 100hp machine.
Ken sorry about the wrong part. nice pics
RS hope you got gutter covers done.
Drew sorry about having trouble getting electrician. Nice hose adapter, clean water out of hose in a hurry.
Bil hope you were ale to conserve energy.
David hope you enjoyed your football, and got some flailing done.
Ted interesting place to leave mojo. Glad you got most of oil changes done. How long does a bag of pellets last? glad you got to sleep in. Hope day went close to plan.
Roy sorry about the issues filling washer fluid on tractor. Hope nap good and greasing and mowing went well. Happy with new grease gun?
Frits you have some nice dirt toys er tools. nice pics
Drew price of diesel has a lot of political baggage. Nuff said.
Ken glad you are feeling better for work. hope you found quiet place to hide.
Roy good to hear grease and mow done.
Thomas good to hear you got nap.
Drew hope you got some good stories and pics.
Frits nice pics
Randy(wag) sorry about the continued rain. Sorry about the messy z-turn. Hope you can get trip to town in soon.
Buppies was the dumpster diver human or critter? Glad for your nice day.
RS congrats on getting gutter covers done. Good to hear new fixture have plenty light.

39° right now...in the mid-60's (mid-60's will be the high all week)

Was supposed to work on-site...forgot to reset my alarm clock so I'm up 2 hours late. Well, working remotely is just as efficient as being on site.

Mostly_Gas, the DeWalt grease gun worked as advertised. Quite a bit faster than using a manual gun. Frankly, it's overkill for home use, but I bought it and I'm gonna use it

Halloween...you folks enjoy the spooky day!!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 50° with light rain this morning. Heading to 61° with more rain. Got friends garden tilled. Area where we tilled had a lot of rocks in it. Had to take it slow. Crazy ending to NASCAR race. Laundry and house cleaning today.
Enjoy Halloween Day.

Good Morning All.

good morning and happy halloween to everyone.
41 going up to 60 today, cloudy,, showers tonight.

need to call appliance place this morning, find out eta on new food freezer.
I was amazed when they said it would be in within a week. Maybe
Once I get it, headed to Costco to stock up.

rubbing cbd oil on left thumb, arthritis not happy from waxing car yesterday.
Car looks nice so worth it. Can't wait to get car back in garage. Chatting with step brother today about
storing my driveway scraper in his barn. Just not enough room to stuff it in my garage without endangering car.
I thought it would be stored at church but that project fell apart.

have a great start to your week.

/ Good morning!!!! #158,210
Good morning, there is no low temp but the high is going to 57°F. No wind. Foggy now clearing later this morning.

Got the Dodge garage re-organized and gained an extra 2' of space along the side.
Also replaced one of the LED flood lights on the corner of the house, I can now see the snow dump again. This is the flood light that blinds you when you drive up the driveway...perfect. When one walks across the front to get to the front steps another light gets you right in the face.

We send our crude oil to the 'states to get refined and then it gets shipped back to us as gasoline and diesel. Between the companies in Canada and the states and don't forget the ever present tax, that is why we Canadians pay through the nose for our fuel.
The only way I see out of this is for everyone to work for free and we all know that ain't gonna happen. That is my 2 cents worth on the high prices of fuel.

Neighbour lady sent over some nuns farts (pet de soeurs) a french Canadian sweet roll of sorts. They are REALLY good. Pets de Soeurs (French Canadian Cinnamon Pastries) Recipe

The North Bay trip will only have 9 stops. Should be home by about 4 P.M., I hope.

Stay safe all

56 and some stars, but getting cloudy and ready to rain this evening after hitting 69.

Probably won't get any trick or treaters here out in the country...been many years, since out kids were young...It used to be fun seeing the costumes and excitement...parents would have to drive them here, so most were friends/acquaintances. My wife still decorates and makes bags of goodies to give out.

I realized I'd been driving more than usual, and checked my log, and sure enough, needed to change the oil in the truck yesterday...nice day for it, since I do it on the gravel driveway. Glad I had everything needed. Taking off the skid plate is easy...getting it back on just depends on my luck...yesterday I was unlucky, so it was a struggle. 7.9 quarts 0W20, bought on sale at Costco.

Then I cleaned my chainsaw, sawed a stump even to the ground with a less than sharp chain, knowing I'd dull it. Cleaned saw again, and now need to sharpen it. I know where a couple of dead trees are calling me. Ken, your view looks nice through your cleared area. Getting low on coffee, so will roast today, and maybe some target practice.

Happy Halloween

Prayers for all Our Country

So the snack for lunch was peppers that were roasted on the grill on high heat until all black on the outside. Then peeled and in olive oil overnight. Delicious.
Boy!! That sounds good!!

/ Good morning!!!! #158,214

this is for you Navy guys
after almost five years the USS Gerald Ford is finally on its way, coming into Halifax Canada.
In the pic is a cruise ship dock, I remember visiting Halifax on that cruise ship about ten years ago.
I always thought the Canadians were extra friendly.

this ship produces enough electricity for 250,000 homes. An amazing floating city and your tax
dollars hard at work. Sistership coming out in 2024. Incredibly complex machines. I do wonder what an EMP would do
to shut it all down very quickly. That ship would be hard to paddle.

Deterrence. Hope it works. And a continued thank you to our folks in uniform.

Good morning, 48 going to 62 rain in the forecast today.

Daughter is in surgery for hip replacement this morning. She has literally organized this among her friends as a military mission setting up dedicated WhatsApp channel and prepared it all down to the smallest detail. Should be out of surgery later this morning.

/ Good morning!!!! #158,216
Prayers for your daughter that the surgery is successful and a fast recovery

Good Morning and a Happy Halloween to all.
It’s 38 out and going to top 60. Dense fog now, clearing, then rain later this evening.

Yesterday was another day of clean up, I did pickup 4 bags of charcoal and clean and reload the firebox on the smoker, got the wedding stuff largely taken care of. We ended up draining beer into a drainage swale just to make the kegs easier to lift. Kept them cold for a week, and tried to give them away for someone to empty the old fashioned way, but no takers.
When the temperature peaked about 60 in the afternoon, I headed to the airport and took the biplane out for about an hour exercise. It was not uncomfortably cold, I think the new rule might be temperature has to be within 10 degrees of my age to take it out.
Fall colors were just stunning, followed the Delaware River for a while, and enjoyed the sights. I’m kicking myself for not taking any pictures, maybe I’ll have to go up again later this week.

Today, I’m thinking about extending a PEX airline in the shop over to the press to make it tidier to hook up to it. Maybe try to clear off the woodworking bench which is piled with stuff as horizontal surfaces are magnets for things that don’t really belong there. Typically half the stuff belongs in the trash, or actually has a home and just didn’t make it there.

We are supposed to have some trick or treaters this evening, a rare occurrence here. Our lane is over a quarter mile, and the road itself is sparsely populated with no side walks, so we are not a “target rich environment” like the nearby subdivisions. So other than friends driving their young kids her, there are no walkers.

Morning all, 42 going up to 67 and the fog is thick.
Happy Halloween.

Son not feeling well again. His friends were supposed to come over later, sure that will be discussed.

Grilled up some steaks and made coleslaw and garlic mashed potatoes for dinner.

While we were at Peddlars village a red tail hawk was on the ground wrestling a snake and then flew off with it. Interest how the people watching had so many different reactions.
Some people it seems have no idea how this nature thing works.

M7040 - I thought the idea of moonshine is it's home made and bought directly from the still owner.
We used to pay $1 for a gallon from our lumberjack neighbors in MA. $21.99 seems a bit much, even with $2 of peaches in it :)

Dog does not like a few of the new decorations and looked scared, so I guess they work?

Even looks like Halloween out.

having visions of 30 Alpaca lined up greeting trick or treaters at Popgadget's place, maybe with white hoods on so
they look like ghosts of the field...

headed out to Petco this morning to look at fish tanks. Need to get it set up and water stabilized before I think about what fish to buy.
I figure RS will give me some pointers. Peaceful fish. No piranhas.

Ken, I thought about putting those peaches on top of some vanilla ice cream.
