Thomas, that's a lot of cukes. Sure are good when they are fresh and crunchy. I'd like to try my hand at pickling some day.
...................................
Mrs. planted 12 plants think 6 plants would have been more than enough for the both of us.
Had my first fresh cuke sandwich yesterday late that afternoon sat by the wood pile enjoy another. :licking:
Mrs. try pickling not much like mostly sealing the jar.

Sure like BIG garden such as yours  but we would end up given 2/3 of it away or the wildlife would eat well.

Good morning to all! Today's expected high is only 100. No rain. This talk of "inches" of rain... The average rainfall here is a total of about 10" annually. It's really bad when when the YTD total is only 2". Add to that its the hottest and driest year on record!

I have been here in NM since '92. The first few years were green, had above average rain and snowfall. It has been progressively getting drier and drier. We have decided it is time it is time to seek a "less harsh environment". It seems that many other areas are to the opposite extreme....too much rain, too quickly (flooding), massive forest fires, tornadoes (in multiples), or blizzards /massive snows. Is there any weather stable areas? Somebody really p****d off Mother Nature....

You guys take it easy in the heat...at least our heat is accompanied by very low humidity (10-15%), unlike the high humidity with your heat. I don't think I could be out riding a bike in conditions like this.

Going out to work on my build while it is still tolerable...everyone have a great day! Prayers out for everyone.

With the talk about bikes. I got mine out. Put new tubes on both tires. Adjusted brakes. Lubed chain and derailleur. Took it for a 1 mile ride. Either I am out of shape or getting old. I was huffing and puffing at end of 1/2 mile. Good thing return trip was down hill. Had breakfast. Took another ride. 2 miles this time. Much falter road. Top speed 8 mph. I have a long way to go to catch up to Don's 16 mph. Maybe I should take up spinning. :confused2: We have a new Planet Fitness next door to the PT center.

We have the largest rural mail box, at the ranch. It’s about 15”x12”x24”. If we get a parcel too large for the box, our mail lady drives down our driveway and drops it on our front porch.

The low this morning was 54*, yesterday was in the mid 80's and partly cloudy. They are saying a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms for today. With a high in the mid 70's and some wind. We could use some rain.

Not much planned for today, work on the trailer some and put tools away.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.
CWB.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!

Kyle- I wish you a happy belated birthday. I hope you had a decent day. I wish you many more trips around the sun.

Claye- Wifey was mentioning the need for another hummingbird feeder around here due to all the hummingbird activity. We have two already. Adding a third would give those hummers another food source to fight over

Drew- Thanks for the snake rescue. I too try to help wild animals out of their predicaments. Your helper reads to be a "keeper." Good luck.

Ed- I am sorry to read about the "Bait & Switch" with the lathe.

Andrew- After a couple of  "pucker and skid the undies" moments  on my tractor I now go low and slow and always wear the seatbelt. Good luck.

PJS- Good luck with the repair those roof soft spots.

A 60コF rainy, foggy start to the morning this AM? A good day to catch up here and drink lots of coffee.

The recent run of rain free cool mornings and tolerable afternoon temperatures kept me really busy with the outdoor property and garden chores in the AM's and during the PM's Wifey and I have been on a major "clean up&out" mission this past week. My junk room is now a real guest bedroom :( and one can safely walk around in the cellar w/o risk of injury.

As a hoarder it was extremely painful  to see all my decent junk go to the local Transfer Station and a regional recycling center. :(

The dry weather is now history. It looks like I will be seeing a lot of wet weather which started last evening as the first weather front rolled through with a lot of Tropical moisture interacting with unstable NE weather dynamics.

Luckily I successfully fixed a newly discovered leak in the roof over the cellar yesterday afternoon w/o wearing any sealing compound and/or getting stuck crawling through a window getting to the leak.

I hope that everyone has a decent Sunday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 8:00AM. Partly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High near 95F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Much of the north state is under an extreme heat advisiory today, with fire weather warnings in the foothills and mountains due to dry lightning. Good day to stay home and stay alert for airplanes circling overhead.

Who remembers the “conversations” Basil and Miguel had in the old British series “Fawlty Towers”? Hope you have better luck with your new farm hand, Drew!

Very likely that the Chinese manufacturer is the one jerking around the US distributor for that lathe, Ed, and that sends undesireable ripples all the way down the supply chain. Add in the language barrier, and you’re suffering from the result. I’m stuck in the sort of the same loop with a manufacturer in France, who sent their part via DHL, who then subed the final delivery to some outfit called OnTrac here in the US. It’s been more than a month going out to the wrong address or just sitting in a wharehouse somewhere. The tracking website says it’ll come today, then when it doesn’t, the delivery date changes to the next day... I just hope the right part is in the box if/when it finally gets here.

Both Powermatic and Delta made 14” floor standing bandsaws with transmissions that allow cutting both wood and metal, Drew. They have about a 2’x2’ footprint and are very versatile and reliable, once they’ve been gone through to replace wear items and perhaps bearings. Parts availability is good, and USA spec berings, belts, and seals can be had at any bearing house. They are quality pieces of machinery, and carry price tags to boot, even though they’ll be from the ‘50s to the ‘70s in age for the best ones.

Replaced o-rings and seals on the back half of the engine yesterday, then mounted the flywheel. Couldn’t hold the engine still while the flywheel bolts were torqued to 75 lb. ft., so mounted the engine in the frame. Found the timing sprocket on the crank is shot, so that work will have to wait for an order to go out and come back. Plenty to do getting the clutch and transmission back in, and the swingarm and rear wheel on to make it a roller though. That way I’ll be able to free up the lift for other jobs.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday...
