Good morning!!!!

interesting morning though not very productive.
Nice visit to Petco store. Found the aquarium I wanted, 29 gallon with all accessories except fake plants and fish, and a stand.
That was easy. Then it got tougher.

I started to wander among the fish tanks and it got a little sad.
Many of the tanks weren't particularly clean, and very few of the fish looked interesting enough except for the bettas.
There was a whole wall of them in little clear containers and when you walked by most would look up at you.
It got a little creepy. Then I saw the rodents and the snakes, not my cup of tea, but last part was the turtles, and there
I had problems. Those good sized turtles went nuts when I walked up, scrabbling toward me, if ever we would understand an animal those critters
were yelling out Let Me Out!. I had a real Free Willy moment and then started looking at all these caged animals and fish in a different light.

I actually got depressed looking at all the cages and left without buying anything.
I'd be terrible at the SPCA, would want to take them all home...

salt water fish much more colorful than fresh, but wow the prices, all twenty and thirty dollars apiece.

back to thinking about dogs

stopped and bought some powerball tickets for tonight's drawing.

58F, wet, and cloudy (which WU describes as "haze") @ 11:00, heading up to a high of around 67F. Calling for a few showers this afternoon. LWS says we got a trace of rain (0.05") since midnight.

Plans for today are to get cleaned up and then head into the county BOE to cast our ballots.

But not before I unload the gas for the Cub out of the trunk of the car.

After that we'll likely head down to Menards to pick up the order for the door frame/jamb and trim which is ready.

Then probably over to the barn to continue on there.

But probably check the hopper feeder before heading over.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Monday ... (y)

Good morning to all! Low of 31°, going up to 60° again. A low pressure storm front starts moving towards our area tonight, bringing high winds for tomorrow..... 50-60 mph gusts expected. Chances of rain / snow Wed. / Thur.

Mostly, right now, 1 bag of pellets lasts us about a week. But, we areonly running the stove a couple times a day, morning and evening. When the really cold weather sets in, usage goes up of course. The stove gets set to run 3 or 4 times during the night, plus during the day (turned on manually), a bag will last 2-3 days. It all depends on the temp / wind.

Got all the oil changes done yesterday. Moved / consolidated all of the gardening supplies into one spot near the greenhouse. Ran the drip and got most of the landscaping watered. Still need to do 2 more zones today.

While one zone is running, I need to reconfigure the 2nd zone for the 2 new trees that got planted a couple weeks ago. I have been watering them with the hose..... kind of a pain. Won't be too hard, more of an inconvenience to gain access to the buried supply line.

Filled up with gas at Costco, $3.11 / gal. Premium was $3.34. That was a nice surprise! Local prices are still up around $3.60.

Drew, I have stopped into our local pet shelters and have the same feelings ------ I want to rescue them all! Especially the older ones that have been abandoned by their owners for whatever reasons. Pets are a commitment for sure. Our Max is one spoiled pup!

Ken, definitely a pic of "sleepy hollow". Hopefully you don't hear any clippity/clop of a horse!

We haven't had any trick or treaters out here for about the last 20 years.... only the first few years that we were here, the neighbors had younger children that came around. Most of the schools have "trunk or treat" events, this way all the kids are safe and can get 'consolidated' goodies all in one spot.

RNG, nice to hear you had a great trip! The lighthouse is nice. Appears to be well maintained. Sorry your co-riders were lax getting moving.

Everyone have a great day!

Same here...if we went to adopt locally, I'd bring 'em all home!
We do have a rescue pup, but she came from out of state. There was a lot of problems initially, and I've little doubt she wasn't treated well. After a few months, she's settled in

RS, I'm serious about a fish tank.

Ok.

They have all in one kits or build your own.
In past have owned a 6, 20 and 55 gallon one. 20-30 is right size now, have to get a stand for it.
I have a Petco and a Petcity or something nearby and they both have aquariums.
Also need a place to buy fish and all the little accessories.

As far as getting actual fish, I'd recommend your local hobby club.

The fish are likely to be healthier and in better shape ... and maybe cost less than what you'll find in a store.

Plus you'll probably be getting them from someone who likely really knows something about them.

Maybe drop by the next meeting these guys are having which looks to be this coming Thursday (November 3rd):

Bucks County Aquarium Society

They meet down in Churchville.

Would give you an opportunity to do a little networking and make some new friends.

Plus it sounds like they do similar as to what we do here:

Monthly meeting usually featuring a speaker who gives a presentation on some aspect of fish, fish keeping, or a trip they have taken, often abroad (related to fish) followed by an auction.

If you check BCAS's calendar on their website you'll see that there are other clubs in your area as well.

Have had issues in past where one sick all sick, so while would be nice to have a holding/isolation tank, whatever I buy will
get dumped in. I wonder if they have a chemical to put in bag with new fish, their version of a covid shot...

Like you say, having an iso tank (hospital tank) would be nice.

Personally, I wouldn't treat them unless they develop a problem at some point after you've gotten them.

And then I would treat for the specific issue they seem to have.

fish are fun, but they do die pretty regularly. Am guessing the shortest life "pets" we have.
RS, how long do your fish live?

Some of them can live a fairly long time given good conditions.

Years actually ... ;)

. But like Ted said, I use it so infrequently it's hard to justify the time needed for the mod. Just curious, is the worm on the hoist fine enough that it doesn't unwind under the weight of the beam? Or do you have to hold it while you fiddle around getting the pins in place?

I have had this press for at least 30 years, and was always gonna add a winch, but only thought about when I had to move the table. I think it was adding the pneumatic pump that got me into press improvement mode, but I’ll never regret doing it.
Yes, the worm gear holds it in place, it’s a 2000lb capacity winch, I don’t think that the table with the plates and even the press brake weigh 300.

I am the same way every time moving the table I think about it until next time. Wondering if you could give us some feedback on the pump and how you like it after using it a few times?
