Daygot off to slow start. uPS office not open due to employee issue. Finally opened about 1015 and I was done 1020, iPad on its way. Picked up new iPad case at PO it it has what appears to be knife cut across left side. Later got email saying I’d get a replacement..
19 friends for Happy Hour. My roasted curry pumpkin coconut soup apparently a winner. Barely enough in Insta Pot for the dogs to lick. Fortunately only took half the pumpkin to make full pot, froze other half after roasting.
Lots of other good food and great to see some people in person we hadn’t seen in awhile.

Frits, glad daughter’s surgery went well. Nice family pic.

Good mid (Tuesday) evening. The overnight Low was 7C and the High (apparently) was 17C. There was 2mm in the gauge this morning which brought the month's total to 276.4mm.

It's a good thing that I didn't travel to Launceston yesterday as trees were down, and a minor landslip, on the Elephant Pass. Cracking has also been detected on the road of that Pass. A tree also came down over the entrance to the bridge leading into St Helens, which was quickly cleared.

I got away, via the 'Scottsdale Pass' (or the 'Weldborough Pass', depending on which way you're travelling I guess) to Launie at 0850. Arrived at 1135... fortunately I didn't get trapped behind a logging truck and a couple of slowed drivers actually pulled over to let me pass. (yes, I 'beeped' and waved my thanks). I encountered one tree down across the East bound lane, and flashed the sparse on-coming traffic as a warning... for a reasonable time.

All tasks accomplished within a couple of hours and away by 1340, arriving home by 1620.

It may have rained whilst I was away, but the weather-guessers 'say' that I should be rain-free for the next 5 days.

That's it for today, take care all.

Coffee is done brewing. 54° with cloudy skies and fog this morning. Heading to 65° with sunshine in afternoon. Got house cleaned and laundry washed. Not put away yet. Financial guy meeting this morning. Then Dr visit in afternoon. Have a pain on my right side. May be from all the tilling I did Sunday. Looking back at tiller. I should put a rear view camera back there. Some more yard and garden pond work when I get home.

I love this....
A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'.The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveller asked.
'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'
'How about my friend here?' the traveller gestured to the dog.
There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveller filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveller asked.
This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveller said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind!
That's basically the finale of an old Twilight Zone episode..."The Hunt"

good morning all
surprisingly warm out, 59 going up to high 60's today in clouds,
.22 rain last night.

5% off day at local supermarket for seniors, headed there this morning

called another electrician locally after first one declined, saying too busy.
No call back.
seems like a wise career path for a young person, electrician or plumber.
Appears demand exceeds supply.

M7040, hope daughter is feeling better this morning.
You too Roy, and you too Ron. Ron sounds like you over did it.
Seems to take less for that to happen any more...?

Good Morning Everyone

I've been absent for various reasons for the past 5 days.

I'm about 20 pages behind, so I'll catch up via Mostly's snapshot.

The wifi / internet is up and running again, and i am back in the house and working from my home office.

I had a nice 2 day visit with Daughter, Son In Law, and Grandson last week.

Physically I'm still recovering from last year's dislocated shoulder injury, and more recent falls including the "hockey injury"

Wife claims that SHE is separated, and has posted such to mutual friends, and on FB (that's how I heard the news). She is not doing well, and there is nothing that i can do about it. I'm having to take steps to plan ahead. She moved Upstairs with the tenants, for the immediate. Not sure what her plan is, she has NO income or financial support apart from me. A buyout is likely. It's a painfully sad journey (as many already know). I worry about her.
My Father in Law, and Sister In Law, moved out and back to PG on Sunday - that was a fiasco from the start.

One Tenant remains confirmed as Moving Out, not sure if that means Today, or in a Month ... so I patiently wait. At least the "charity renting" will end within the next few months, and some reasonable rent will allow us (me ?) to pay down some bills.

Still Trusting God and Waiting on the Lord - this ain't over yet. I have a solid support group, pastor, counsellor, friends, police, and family.

Good morning, low temp is 46 and the high to 59°F. Wind WSW 6 mph. Partly sunny.

Today has me putting new safety chain hooks on the trailer and treating the back blade, front bucket and V-plow with pam in preparation for snow. Grocery store wanted $5.oo/can, I got it at dollarama (dollar store) for $2.oo/can. Win, win for me.

I am trying to track down some permethrin 0.5% for next years mosquito season. It can be used on horses and dogs as well as your clothing, but NOT on your body nor on cats. It will kill a cat.
It takes about 6 washings to wash it out of clothes.

Have a safe day all

59 going to 75. Got a little rain last night. October's over already?

Scaredy, prayers said.

Ron, hope you feel better.

Buppies, great story. I had Coco on my mind while reading, so got a little choked up.

Most of our maple leaves decided to visit the ground over the last 2 days. Ground is as colorful as the trees. Another mow/mulch is needed. Sharpened my chainsaw yesterday...it feels good holding it and running it on Halloween.👻 Also roasted 3 batches, a Costa Rica, a Cameroon, and a Kenya. :coffee:

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 4:30AM.
Periods of rain. Thunder possible. High 58F. Winds SSE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 100%.
Still dry out, and it looks like the front will be here just in time for lunch. We'll have a wet afternoon, then clearing for the rest of the week. Then rain starts again on Saturday, continuing for the remainder of the 10-day. Fingers crossed this'll be the end of this year's fire season.

Got a few things under new tarps yesterday in advance of the rain. Trash can mostly full of rotten nylon this morning. Nylon straps and lots of heavy rocks holding the new ones in place. We're supposed to see 15MPH winds today, so I hope I don't have to chase any of them down.

Did you have your hockey mask on while you were reving that chainsaw, Billy?

I missed your photos of our feathered friends, Ron. Thanks.

Hang in there, SC. A lot of us have walked that road before, and sooner or later it'll get better for you.

I learned of a new tech fiasco involving old school hard drives yesterday. It seems a newer way of applying the magnetic media to the disc platters is causing trouble for high usage discs in arrays and network attached storage systems, resulting in premature data loss. There's even a class action lawsuit. I've lost two drives out of the first batch of drives I purchased in 2016, but they weren't included in the suit. But the replacements are, and the suit isn't open to new members. One of those replacements hasn't even arrived yet, but it'll be going back. And of course, the "good" drives cost considerably more than the old ones.

Got a little motorcycle maintenance on my dance card for today, and probably some house cleaning, too.
