lovely weather for next few days, sunny, high around 70. Very nice Fall weather.

no plans for today other than waiting for appliance store to deliver freezer this afternoon.

Don, did you have a learning curve on the NH powershift? Or do you just let the clutch out to go, push it in when you finally stop?

Good Morning.
It’s 52 with a high in the upper 60’s today under a cloudless sky.

Yesterday’s visit to the FAA went much better than last week’s. We got the checkride accomplished with no hiccups. My only concern that there was a fairly low overcast that required that it be done in the clouds, and some inspectors will not do that. This one did, and I got that clarified before going up there. The tops of the clouds were only 2000 feet or so, a nice day above them.

I got home early enough to put z around in the shop for a while.
I was tired of tripping over augers on the floor, so I added a cross piece to the dolly I made for the post hole digger so I could store them there.

It seems like all my shop projects lately are for the shop itself, but they keep me entertained just the same.

Today will start with breakfast with the professor, wife is coming as well. Nice way to start the day. Not sure what else I’ll get into, might have to take the biplane out again while the temperature is at least approaching my age. Maybe I’ll take some pictures of the fall colors. At any rate whatever I get into should be interesting and entertaining.

it was a big learning curve for me to use a powershift trans, when I was so spoiled by a hydro with cruise control and all the electronic nannies that eliminated stalling
and maintained rpm. Kudos to Kubota tech.

Before I bought the Kubota, I almost bought this 4720R. Loaded. Expensive. Awful dealer.
I know Roy is happy with his. Roy is like me, I think he will always want 20 more hp
That's what made buying the Massey 4707 fun. Finally I had more than I needed. And everything I wanted.

I'm on a 4707 forum here and it's been fun to listen to how others have done with this model tractor.
I bet some of you are on forums here with your model also. Was nice to find out it was not totally operator error on
my wonky three point hydraulics. This was a "real" tractor and I was a bit of a poseur...but that bucket list item
got happily accomplished.

I'd like to get another one. With the market down 20 percent and talk of a mild recession, and being retired,
just isn't likely, particularly since I have a friend with a perfect new LX2650.

I bet Paul's grandson will adore this dog. Hope so.

Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 4:15AM.
Rain showers early with scattered thunderstorms arriving for the afternoon. High near 55F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
Yesterday's predicted 3/4" of rain fizzled out to only 1/4". Barely enough to settle the dust on the driveway.

House is staying pretty comfortable inside in spite of the dropping outside temps. Until we get a bit more rain, I'm trying not to have a fire in the woodstove, even though the chimney has a spark screen at the top. I can usually manage to get past Thanksgiving before I fire up the stove or furnace.

Got some chores done yesterday, and a bit of reading. That was enough.

Actually, the 4520 I had before 4052 had more HP and, more importantly, more torque...
What I really wanted was a factory cab...much nicer than a 15-year-old Curtis cab that had been rode hard and put away wet.
The 4052 will bog down when the 4520 never bogged down.
But, one makes do with one has...and I wouldn't go back
If I could have found a 4066 in my price range, I would have preferred that...

As far as the transmission type, the 4520 had a Power-Reverser...I actually prefer that to HST. Less power loss to the rear wheels and once a gear and RPM are set, pretty close to being a cruise control. The cruise control in my 4052 is nice, but only works in a forward direction. Power-Reverser, although no cruise control, will maintain the same speed forward or reverse. Much easier when using a standard PTO driven snow blower

No learning curve just another lever to shift when I want to go or stop while depressing the clutch. If it had a FEL instead of a long 6 wheel trailer and I used the reverse as well as the forward it would be used as intended. I still like the Kubota Treadle pedal that I had on my 5030 best.

Now there is a learning curve on the DEF. Since there are multiple drivers with various experience the trainer has everyone run the tractor continuously at 2,000 RPM, even when not regenerating, is this necessary?

Running the engine at 1000 RPM (Idle RPM) will result in more frequent regens. I never let the tractor idle...as soon as the oil pressure is up, I increase RPM to 1500.

actually Roy I had my numbers wrong, it was a 4066R. Almost sixty grand with a loader and grapple. gulp
The larger Massey was ten grand less and gave me a full size utility tractor for the price of a very nice compact.
Based on local support, I would go back to Kubota here.

Morning all, 53 going up to 70, seems like fall is not catching up to the date, should be stuck in the 50's.
Certainly not complaining.
Keep waking up feeling like I can't breath. Will give it one more night before going to Dr.

Still need to move more leafs, if they dry out before next rain.

Dog to nail clinic tonight for a trim.

Not much else on the plate right now, soon it will be clearing work again in the back yard, want to get it to where I can just use the flail. Will have to move a lot of downed trees, stumps and rocks for that.
Maybe cleanup the trails too.

Tried for a good moody shot of the moon, not as good as I wanted...

Add about $10K to buy a 4066 now...
I've never bought a new tractor...in fact, I don't think I've purchased a new "anything", except for the Gator...
Even my wife was used (divorced) when I married her 20some years ago
