Sorry about your buddy David. May he RIP.

Still warm down here. Got up to 83F on my car's temp reading, usually pretty accurate.

Rip, glad you got some quality time with daughters. Hope work goes as smooth as possible.

Heard that Wegmans stores are now using facial recognition software to spot bad actors. Everyone gets to smile if you want to.

Also, if you have a smart TV that is connected to the net, chances are it is sending reports of whatever you watch to whomever will pay them for the data. There might be some setup configurations that will stop it, so you can look it up for your tv and hopefully turn it off.

I'm glad I don't have to fill an oil tank. We are actually running the A/C today. But if it gets really cold, my electric heating can cost $300/month.

Prayers for our team, our country, and peace in the world.

Your 'really cold' and my 'really cold' are different. Back 31 years ago when I bought this place the first thing I did was tear out all the electric heaters and put in a forced air oil furnace. The electric was costing the previous owners $1200.oo every three months. It costs me $300.oo every three months.
And call him NN? No Nuts

Couldn’t sleep, got out of bed.
I will just bet your wife wouldn't like that name either. NB would work, too. No Balls.
You and me both. :(

Sorry for your friend David!
Morning all!
27 going to a rain and freezing rain 33 today.
I'm up early again today also!

Got all three driveways shoveled yesterday. Spent some of the day repairing some drywall damage in our bathroom. (TP holder fell off the wall)
Finished out with bringing in the neighbor's Kubota and swapping out the leaking water pump. Got that installed and will finish up adding fluids and giving it a full filter change and service this morning.
Since it was here I removed the leaky front tire and had him drop it off at the tire shop to see if they can find the slow leak.

Nothing else planned today. Hoping to stay home and off the icy roads. Need to recoup after all this work anyway.
Going in for round two of neck shots tomorrow so have to start figuring out last food and drink times.
Think I'll try to do some pillow time on the couch here for a few hours.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 34° with fog and drizzle. Heading to 38° with continued drizzle. .08" rain yesterday. Snow is slowly melting. Check out tractors and mower. Put new air filter in mower. Went to change air filters in tractors. Found my supply of were all for the mower. 4 new filters on order. Did some clean up on ice and snow along walkways so water would drain away. Used tractor to move snow piles away from driveway. Spent rest of the conserving energy. NO plans for today yet.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.

good morning all
Ron's doves remind me about 20 doves visited yesterday, never saw so many at one time.
they went to town on the seed on the ground.

trying out the coffee with chicory this morning. Need to get the mix right, a little strong and dark but
good taste.

headed down to Ken's house around lunchtime where he will help me install a new heater blower fan in my car.
We both watched the youtube video and not too hard. It was making quite a rattle at high speed.

36 out now going up to a warm 52 in fog; warmer air hitting what's left of the snow will keep it foggy.
hope you all have a good day

Phil, I'm scheduled for neck epidural in two weeks and new doc said injections did not require sedation usually.
Last time I had my neck done I involuntarily moved around enough pain doc said no more, next time he knocked me
out with propofol. Thinking about calling back in and rescheduling with anesthesia

Good Tractor Morning,
Ct, 30 to start and everything is coated in a layer of ice. But fortunately I’m not going anywhere right away. I walked out to get the morning paper down the DW and fortunately my DW in Ct is flat, so not too much chance of falling 😉

Kathleen started taking down Christmas decorations yesterday, so the house is returning to normal.

Today the big job for me is to change the oil and filter in my Ford F150. I have to work tomorrow so it needs to be done today before it gets cold again.

Drew, a huge RV sounds like fun, but I guess you need to ask yourself if you will be happy 😉
Only you know that yourself, and maybe that’s the way to go in the winter months to beat the cold up here.

Hope all have a blessed day 🙏

45 heading to 65. Let the woodstove go out yesterday.

Scotty, we are taking ours down too...my wife likes to follow Old Christmas...the 12 days of Christmas...so we're taking everything else down today. Nice warm weather for the outside portion.

Took Della for a nice hike in the mountains yesterday...saw no one on the trail. Although it got up to 54F, there were still frost heaves in the damp sections in the shade of thick conifers...one steep section, heading down, the soil surface had melted and even looked semi-dry, but a half inch underneath was frozen. I hit the surprise and my foot slipped out on what turned out to be like grease on ice, but caught myself just in time...about a hundred yards further I saw where someone else had done the same thing. I was walking just off the trail at that point to avoid further slips until I got past the danger zone.

Good morning TBN!!
35 this morning. Supposed to hit 70 today and sunny. My kinda day!!

Spent yesterday on the compressor. Got it out of it's hole and took the pump off. Only four bolts holding the motor on so took it off to. A lot lighter to get the tank in the garage! Found a flat piece of steel from the old bridge and cut it to fit under the new pump.
Today will involve cleaning that up and drilling holes for it.
I also plan on cutting four more pieces to mount casters on the big band saw.
Ordered the motor pully and it should be here tomorrow

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

42 outside this AM, heading to lower 60's. Still have the wood stove going. The original part of the house where we normally sit for work is like an ice cube plant. One of these days I will have to tear into the walls upstairs and redo the insulation.

Not much going on. Work sucks, but then what else is new. Three real days into the New Year and it is just more chaos.

Got pest control and friends showing up for a lunch visit. Good timing, LOL.

My 20 plus year old Poulan 16 incher still works. Three bars later and dozens of chains used up, still starts right up and cuts well. Abused well over the years. Still original parts. It is an anomaly for sure.

Hope all have a great day. Over the hump day! Be safe.

I had read an article about Lithium Valley, the area right below the Salton Sea at the bottom of
California, how huge and hugely important lithium reserves have been found there.
While looking on Google Maps, I saw that Mexico wasn't far away, the city of Mexicali.

So I went on a walkabout in Mexicali using Street View.
picked an average secondary street and went for a walk.
I wish I could get "steps" credit for this...

I saw a lot of Pollo signs, must eat a lot of chicken like we do, Alto meant stop on the stop signs and
plenty of taco places. Otherwise boy I wish I had learned Spanish instead of French.
and then I came upon a place I thought would make a good breakfast treat.
After all, Rico's pancakes are guaranteed to make you happy. And I bet they do.

two other observations. Streets were not spotless but very clean, far cleaner than American cities.
All cars were between ten and twenty years old, or older. Guessing fairly poor area.
But it has Rico.
I wonder if he will do more business now that some bot algorithm has discovered him. Wonder if he moves around.

good morning, 43 and high of 53 nice winter weather

Cleaned out ashes in the stove and started smaller fire. The nearby wood shed is getting close to running out with only over length pieces remaining. Need to cut them in half and likely will use the Makita chain saw for that.

Also plan to load the RTV with firewood from the under the barn storage place.

Oh yes Mexicali was the starting point for the trip to a project an hour South of there. Gilberto would pick me up in San Diego in his small car to avoid standing out when traveling further South. Army pick up trucks and check points along the way

Good morning, the low is 23 and going up to 30°F. Wind SSE 2 mph. 60% chance of flurries.

Scott, 2 words, January thaw, starts tomorrow for 3 days. 36,41,34 then back into the 20s.

There is nothing on my plate until the oil truck comes tomorrow.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning
46° and sunny. Fog is trying to form, but the sun is winning.

Yesterday was another day on the Sisyphean task of FAA computer “learning”. At least while I was waiting for the clock to runout on each module, I was able to do some reading on how to model involute splines, so actual learning was taking place. I am apparently comprehending the FAA material, I scored 100% on the mid point test, so I’m legitimately checking that box, but I’m going to use up the better part of 3 days until I’m finished.

I’ll be back at it after my Special K, but I hope to be done by lunchtime. Not sure what will be next, probably clean out after last night’s fire and load up the fireplace for the next one.
