    Any maple syrup makers?

We use bags and tap 150 may increase to 200 this year. Thinking of tapping the trees that can take 2-3 taps and just put 1 in them. That way if we get cold and lose those I can re-tap later. Biggest hold up now is I meet with the new land owner tomorrow, met her in June and she said we could...

    Possible bh77 backhoe

I have a BH77 on a L3400, I used to have a Ford 4500 TLB. The 77 is much more nimble and surprisingly capable. I would buy again and yes it's 3x slower than a mini at digging but it's faster getting down the road a couple miles, or across a field to fix a broken tile.

Not sure where the adjustment would be. Used the bush hog and the PTO doesn't seem to slip. But I have to keep my foot on the pedal to keep it engaged, there is no going "over center" so to speak. Is the adjusment in the pedal, or in the clutch housing? Thanks David

    How would you fall this?

I don't see where that was said. I still think cutting at the base is the most dangerous. Even with clear escape route, too much uncontrolled happening at the same time. Those limbs could roll the log on you before you have a chance to move. David
  29. David Wayne

    How would you fall this?

There's no way I would cut that at the base. Big log three or four feet off the ground, when it goes you have the root ball hopefully setting back down, log dropping, and with the limbs there is no way to know just where that log is going, all at the same time. Start at the top, work your way...

Drying up field ... does subsoiling really work?

I agree if grade can solve the problem. I am used to keeping fields farmable. Also would depend on what the OP plans for the area, for instance "trees" they would render tile usless in a few years. David

Drying up field ... does subsoiling really work?

24-30 is fine and downhill would be easy, but I dont know the lay of the field, how many wet areas or how big, and where the outlet would be in relation to the wet areas. If mutiple tiles are run they would be run parallel about 40'-60' apart and would be ran into a main that has an outlet.

Drying up field ... does subsoiling really work?

You have a backhoe, if there is a place for an outlet run tile yourself and save some money. Its not rocket science, you dont need a laser unless the ground is pretty flat and you have very little fall. If the ground is wet the water will help you carry grade.
