    Good morning!!!!

I have the Makita that telescopes out to 13’. It takes two 18v batteries. Works well, but gets heavy quickly if you don’t use the harness. (I rarely do).

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning. Already 72°, DP 71°, going to be another unbearable day outside with a high of 95 or more. Yesterday’s trip made me thankful that the AC worked well in the plane. At 37,000 feet the temperature was 21°C above the standard temp. (-56°C), making it -35°, while cold enough to not...

Good Morning 73° DP 72° this morning. I first thought it was foggy outside, but it was my windows all covered with condensation. High of 95 and no rain forecast. Yesterday started with a visit from Drew and his motorhome, I think that we were able to check off everything on his list before...

    Good morning!!!!

There is usually a chart either in the units documentation or on a sticker inside, the sub cooling value is dependent on inside temp (dry and wet bulb for RH) and outside temp. Absent the chart, there are apps that can provide a generic value. Having a sight glass on the liquid line leaving the...

    The day the music died.

I remember an interview maybe 20 years ago where he was asked what he thought about how many of his songs were still relevant, and he said he found it depressing. A true genius in every way. Admitted to Harvard at 15.

Good Morning 71° and foggy high in the low 80’s with thunderstorms forecast, we got about 1/5” of rain overnight in passing showers. It’s a good thing I don’t have any pressing outside work to do, it’s not gonna a good day to be outside. Yesterday didn’t accomplish much here, went to memorial...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 76° and sunny. Forecast to stay that way with a high of 85. Yesterday was unbearably hot, thunderstorms rolled through around 5, leaving us 1/4” of rain and peak winds in the 30’s. Spent some time with the old guys at the RC field, puttered in the shop and did a Costco run...

    Good morning!!!!

A lot of the modern fans are DC motors driven by a power supply module tucked up under the trim. They often include a remote control function. The fact that it moves would indicate that it’s getting power. If it has a remote, find it and see if that brings it to life. If it doesnt, and it does...

What is a good brand front door lock with "lever" handles?

Schlage and Baldwin make several tiers of hardware. The upper tiers are much better than the home center and builder grade stuff.

Good Morning. 73° and sunny, gonna be a hot one as it gets into the 90’s. Chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Yesterday was another day that I managed to stay busy. A friend made me wooden blinds for our bedroom, they came out great, I installed them yesterday. I gave him the stain...

I use torque sticks like these with an impact gun. Especially with high torque values like the loader frame bolts at 145ftlbs. But I just used one on the blade bolts for my Lazer. https://www.harborfreight.com/12-in-torque-limiting-extension-bar-set-10-piece-69870.html

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning It was 62° when I got up, DP was 61. Now it’s 76/63. A nice sunny day. I had planned to mow the pastures today, but one of my neighbors came over and sprayed all the fence lines. I’ll give it a chance to work today, and that will be a chore for tomorrow. So I’m inside the shop...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 66°, dew point 55°, bright sun, gonna be a nice day. Yesterday’s major accomplishment was to get the mowing done, both with the Lazer and the Progressive. Everything but the pastures is done. That might happen today. Didn’t spend much time inside, so there is still stuff to...

    Good morning!!!!

It most likely has a sight glass on top of the receiver/dryer up front near the condenser. With the AC on and about half throttle, it should be clear. If there are bubbles, add refrigerant (R134a most likely) until it runs clear. Also make sure that the cabin filter is clean as well as the...

Good Morning 72°, DP 62°, that’s a good spread to start the day, a definite break in the humidity. Yesterday’s major accomplishment was to go from this- To this. It was nice having Drew stop by, he left us some fresh veggies, and took home some of Zoe’s DNA. I was actually asleep in the...

I use Fusion 360 to generate the G code, I select optimization, which lets me slow the feed rate by whatever factor I choose. It was 50% and only inside curves. It also does the compensation for the kerf that I specify. It took some tweaking to get it accurate.

Good Morning 72° and foggy. High in the middle 80’s with a chance of thunderstorms. Yesterday’s weather was unsettled. It drizzled until 3pm, but the weather for the fair was dry, and it was well attended. Show went well, sound check and setting monitor mixes took much longer than expected...

Good Morning 68° and overcast becoming partly cloudy, high just shy of 80 with a low POP later, but it’s been a steady drizzle so far. Yesterday was a day of continuous small tasks. Home weather station suggestions

As an early adopter of the Tempest, I let them know that I had the Davis colocated with the Tempest, and gave them links to the data to compare. Over time, they greatly improved the accuracy of the rain measurement, and some improvement in the wind, the barometric pressure was always in the...

    Home weather station suggestions

The Tempest does a great job of uploading and hosting the data. My disappointment is with the quality of the data it collects. Temperature is dead on, everything else is off by varying degrees, the rainfall being the most inaccurate.

    Good morning!!!!

Most minisplits come with a chart telling you how much to add for additional line sets. With a conventional system you would just add to get the sub cooling or superheat (depending on the expansion device) to the target value. On a mini split or the high seer units that is all controlled by...

Good Morning 75° and overcast, high of 85 with the sun coming out later, with the likelyhood of thunderstorms increasing throughout the day. Yesterday did get all the mowing done, except the pastures (which don’t need it yet) used both the Lazer and Progressive. The Lazer had a blade come...

    Good morning!!!!

I have no first hand experience with the Mr Cool units, but they seem to be reasonably reliable based on all the reports that I have seen. My only issue is with the pre charged line sets. Good Morning 75° cloudy, high of 85 and going to partly cloudy. Yesterday was a nice day, hot but plenty of shade available, summer fest ran smoothly, having two stages really made the changeovers seamless. I managed to mow with the Lazer around the house before I left. Hopefully today I’ll...

Good Morning 74° and grey outside. Not as foggy as yesterday though. Supposed to burn off and make it to the middle 80’s and humid, but low chance of rain. Should be a good day for Ken’s party. Yesterday, I went to the RC club and flew with the rest of the old guys. After that I made some...

    Good morning!!!!

With a modern system with an inverter drive for the compressor and electronic expansion devices, you can go oversized and get great dehumidification. It also has the benefit of producing more heat from an air to air system because of the greater capacity.

    Good morning!!!!

I’m curious as to how they checked the charge. Typically with a mini split, I would have to recover the charge, weigh what came out to determine how much charge is in there. There is not usually a port on the liquid line to get a pressure so you could check sub cooling, and I have never seen a...

That is very surprising to hear, typically Lexus’ have a decent audio system, even the base models. Are you sure that there isn’t some wacky EQ settings stored? I would find the audio system settings and tweak the EQ to see if you can get it closer to your liking. The EQ settings are often...

When you say “given gas” do you mean that you actually added gas to the intake, or that you advanced the throttle? If it’s the latter, it’s starving for fuel and will be a carb or fuel supply issue. If it’s the former it’s likely an ignition issue. When I was a youth, a wise mechanic told me...

    Good morning!!!!

That was supposed to say miles of 7014, not 7018
  106. P

    Good morning!!!!

I’ve run literally miles of 7018, it works in all positions, and doesn’t require much, if any prep. Probably not as good as 6011 on dirty or rusty metal, but it works just fine. And it is stronger. Runs AC or DC just fine.
  107. P

    Good morning!!!!

For general repair and fabrication I much prefer 7014 over 7018. No where near as “fussy” about storage or restarting an arc.
  108. P

    Good morning!!!!

I would get some of these to store them in after opening. https://a.co/d/6Uehkri They would keep for a long time if you put them right in after opening the tin.
  109. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 62° and foggy, supposed to clear up with a high in theupper70’s, thunderstorms tonight. For as grey and ugly as it’s been outside, we got less than 1/10” since yesterday. Yesterday was primarily spent in front of the computer doing government mandated work stuff. This late night...
  110. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 54°, damp and grey this morning. Only .02” of rain so far, but supposed to see some rain every day until Sunday. Yesterday was a busy day after a leisurely breakfast. I spent all day mowing, used the 16’ Progressive, the 90”, and the 60” Lazer, so plenty of seat time. Except for...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 55° with a forecast high in the low 70’s. Another clear day without rain. Yesterday was a lazy day, I went over to the RC club field to service the batteries in the solar charging station, used a gallon and a half of distilled water. I did bring a plane and got a few flights in...
  113. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning. 50° and sunny, high in the middle 60’s and becoming partly cloudy. Yesterday actually had a few passing brief showers, only totaled .01”, but brought a nice view off the patio of the old folks home. We got Zoe’s old crate out when she came back from her surgery in case we...
  114. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 54° and overcast, no rain, but grey. Yesterday’s trip to Burlington took a bit longer than expected, we took some time after we dropped off the passenger to figure out why we didn’t have internet connectivity. The WiFi worked fine, it was the wide band piece of the puzzle that was...
  115. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 50° and a hint that there is a sun above these clouds. Supposed go get into the upper 60’s and partly sunny with a chance of thunderstorm this evening. Yesterday was cold, damp and miserable outside all day. I went on a campaign of removing the wheel locks on all of our vehicles...
  116. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 48°, grey, damp and a bit of a cold breeze. Overall not the sort of weather that encourages outdoor activity. If it doesn’t change, I’ll likely start afire this afternoon. Yesterday was pretty much the same. Not a nice day to be outside or fly. I took my neighbor (whose manure...
  117. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 52° and drizzling under a grey sky. Not much change expected for the next couple of days. Yesterday’s breakfast with the professor was pretty typical, but my wife did join us. Got a little bit of mowing done with the Lazer between the hedgerow and pasture fence. Grandson heard...
  118. P

    Good morning!!!!

I have a 30lb rotary hammer that uses “spline” bits rather than SDS, I can slip a 5/8 ground rod right into it without an adapter, just set the tool to hammer only, without rotation. I imagine that it would work fine that way for 5/8” rebar as well.
  119. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 46° and clear, likely won’t make 70. Yesterday’s trip to pick up the Citation didn’t go well. On departure, I got to 2000 feet before the master caution lit up with an engine control fault. That was the same issue it was there for in the first place. So right back to the Service...
  120. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 59° sunny and breezy. Looks like another nice day. Yesterday I got all the mowing done, took a while, not too many spots were so wet that they had to be avoided. Took the string trimmer for a walk, followed by the blower. Blew the mower off, the rear deck probably had 8” of...
  121. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 65° with a high of 70 under a partly cloudy, but sunny sky. 15 mph breeze to help dry things out. Yesterday was uneventful, gig went well from a logistical standpoint, but it was a private event with a fairly small audience. At least they were engaged and responsive. Got home...
  122. P

    Good morning!!!!

There should be free play in the clutch lever. It pulls back the engagement spring to disengage the clutch, which is internal to the transmission. It’s very unlikely that the clutch itself is bad. I sent you the adjustment page from the shop manual as well as an exploded view, via text.
  123. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 65° with a high of 80 for today overcast now, but clearing. It’s about time, we have had 4 inches of rain since Tuesday. It’s been a whirlwind of a week, lots going on. Managed to get some RC flying in- Got the shed spray foamed Got the trash and recycling to the street...
  124. P

    Good morning!!!!

The slats are mild steel, the tank and the brackets that hold the slats are stainless. I have found that if i keep the PH above 8, I don’t get rust in the water. I use Borax to raise the PH, no fancy additives or fluids. Overnight, all the slag and murk settles to the bottom of the tray...
  125. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 56° and not going to change much. Grey and damp out there. On and off rain forecast all day. We already got 1-3/8” overnight. Not a good day for outside chores Yesterday’s trip started out fine, took one passenger down to Fl. Got refueled, loaded 4 people, 4 dogs and lots of...
  126. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 53° and likely make it to 75 under partly cloudy skies. Fair chance of rain this afternoon. Yesterday was more autocad and 3D printer time, interrupted by tractor and Lazer time. Put the 90” 3PT Landpride mower on the tractor and mowed inside all the pastures, then got on the...
  127. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 59° and sunny, a high of 70 predicted. Should be a nice contrast to the last four days. Yesterday’s breakfast with the professor was good, but we left the world as we found it. Didn’t change a thing. Spent a lot of time on the computer with Autocad Fusion figuring things out...

  129. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 60° and foggy. High of 65 with good chance of rain throughout the day. Yesterday started with cleaning the gutters, then some puttering. Met a friend at the auto repair shop to give him a ride back after dropping his truck off. The shop is owned by another friend that was there...
  130. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 64° and grey outside. Might go up 5° with showers likely this afternoon. We were under a threat of rain all day yesterday, I finally watered the arborvitae and sod around dinner time. So of course we got an inch of rain overnight. Wife made a project framing a batch of pictures...

    Buying MX6000 Cab

I agree 100% on the first points, especially the importance of solid level ground. (I do it on concrete). However I do find great value in the single lever connector. Admittedly I ordered it with the tractor, so the install labor was a wash, and the cost of the option considered the parts that...
  132. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 65° and sunny, chance of thunderstorms and showers this afternoon, high of 80. Yesterday was a nice day, got some chores done, mowed around the house and fence lines with the Lazer, took the string trimmer for a walk, followed by the blower. Did a quick drawing for a hitch for...
  133. P

    Good morning!!!!

Frits, Your projects continually amaze me. You seem pretty much unstoppable and willing to take on almost any task. Usually by yourself, as well. If I remember correctly, you are over 80 and still going like the energizer bunny. I’m also impressed that you almost always have the right tool for...
  134. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 55° headed past 80 partly cloudy, but no rain. Yesterday was a mix of chores, spent some time at the computer working on remote access and tweaking the cameras. I use Blue Iris camera software, it’s unbelievably capable, cheap and works with almost any camera. The real price is...

  136. P

    Good morning!!!!

If the RV market has truly tanked, then the price of the trailer that you would like should be commensurately lower as well. If that’s not the case, then you are just haven’t found the right buyer yet.
  137. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 67° and a bit grey, no rain forecast, and a high of 70. Yesterday started with cutting some fence lumber for a neighbor, then moved on to emptying the manure bin. I loaded the dump trailer and took it to a neighbors farm to add to their manure pile, although alpaca manure is...
  138. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 60° on its way to 80 under a clear sky. Got all the mulch spread, actually had a little left over. That took most of the day, didn’t do much else besides load grain into the barn. Today’s plan is to empty the manure bin, and haul it to neighbors. I’m guessing it will be 5...

    Good morning!!!!

My guess is that the TV settings changed and the audio output is not set to optical. It looks like the other connection is HDMI. If you use that, make sure that the TV is set to out put audio to HDMI. Also make sure the soundbar is set to receive on whichever input you use.
  140. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning. 45° under a cloudless sky. High around 70 and continued clear. Yesterday started with making pancakes for the kids and grandson. Then son, grandson and I went to neighbors to put a fountain in their pond. The electrical work has been done for weeks, I’m not sure why they...
  141. P

    Good morning!!!!

You are making me feel guilty, I mowed about 12 acres today with a 16’ finish mower behind a tractor with a climate controlled cab, streaming Spotify to the stereo. And my grandson keeping me company.
  142. P

    Good morning!!!!

I have played in bands there several times over the years, usually very large crowds, lots of street vendors. Haven’t been there in many years though.
  143. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good morning 67° with passing showers. Got about 1/4” of rain so far. Temp’s not supposed to change much. Yesterday was a nice paced, generally slow moving day started with getting a load of mulch (which is still in the dump trailer). Mulch yard is less than mile down the road, I just haul...

    Buying MX6000 Cab

It’s actually quicker for me to attach the loader frame than a bucket. I can’t say enough about what a game changer the quick connect is.
  145. P

    Buying MX6000 Cab

Yes, I always drop the loader frame when using a rear implement that won’t need a loader, such as tiller or mower. It makes it much more nimble. Sometimes multiple times in a day. It literally takes a few minutes. No comparison to wrestling with 6 quick connects, especially if any have back...

    Buying MX6000 Cab

I would STRONGLY suggest the single lever hydraulic disconnect for the loader.
  147. P

    Buying MX6000 Cab

I’ve got an L6050, and I poured over the available options and then sat down with the dealer. I added the third function and three rear remotes, one with float. Also the rear defrost and wiper which requires the larger alternator. I also added the single lever hydraulic disconnect for the...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 59° and mostly sunny, high of 77 and rain likely overnight. Yesterday was largely occupied by shearing. My workshop to makeshift buffet conversion worked out well. Got everything cleaned up and back to normal configuration, trash and recycling down to the street, watered...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 47° with a high in the upper 70’s under a bright sky today. Yesterday found plenty to keep me busy. I did a flight review for a friend first thing in the morning, then some major decluttering in the shop, transforming the center bay into today’s lunch buffet for the shearing crew...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 66° now at noontime, high of 75 and sunny. Yesterday’s trip went smoothly, but used up most of the day. Here’s the view of Cape May, NJ on our descent into Philly, and one from on top of the clouds at 45,000 feet. Today is getting ready for tomorrow’s alpaca shearing, not...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 54° and foggy this morning. Fog is already burning off, forecast is for partly sunny to clear and 75. Didn’t accomplish anything yesterday other than the trips to the Vineyard and Akron. Our timing was good, we landed in Akron in between bands of weather, and passed over top of...

Good Morning 50° and mostly cloudy. No rain, continued clouds and a high of 60 in the forecast. Yesterday kept me busy all day, starting with the Easter egg hunt and breakfast at oldest son’s along with other son and daughter and spouses. After that I got out the lazer and mowed around the...

Good Morning 60° and partly cloudy with a nice breeze. Yesterday almost made it to 80. It was warmer here when I got home than it was when I left Palm Beach. The trip went well other than having to get up so early. Had a great view of Cape Fear / Wilmington,NC from 45,000 feet coming in from...

    Good morning!!!!

I’m obviously a huge dog fan (that happens to have a large dog). With that in mind, my advice might be biased, but I can’t imagine not having a dog in the house. There is definitely a period as they grow up that makes you question your wisdom in getting a puppy, though that memory fades fast...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 61° at 4:30 am on its way to the upper 80’s today. The people I’m bringing up from Palm Beach today will feel like they never left Florida! Yesterday kept me occupied all day, but I don’t think that I accomplished much. I did get the indicator setup on the Lathe, the 3D printed...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 34° this morning when I woke up, 64 and climbing now. Bright sunny day with a bit of a breeze. Yesterday, about all I got done was to clean up after the mess I made doing the electrical work. Had a nice trip to the Vineyard, got back in time to have some birthday cake and...

Homes… Your Thoughts… Old or New?

There is no doubt in my mind that new construction has the potential to be far better than old. I have turned an 1800’s barn into living space, built a home from scratch 40 years ago, and just completed a retirement home for myself and my wife. The last project benefits from the advances in...

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 40° under a cloudless sky and breezy, not a howling wind like yesterday. Sky is to remain clear while the temp climbs to 60. Yesterday was spent largely on electrifying the shed. That. Involved getting the wire into it from the shop, mounting the panel and drilling the studs...

Anyone use Sch 80 PVC for air lines?

There is a HDPE tube with an aluminum ply that is intended for air line use. It is similar to PEX, but uses compression type fittings. Brand names would be Maxline or RapidAire. Much better choice than PVC.
  164. P

    Good morning!!!!

Looks like you misplaced it before you got to use it! I keep a 116 along with a clamp meter in my car for triage assesment. It’s really hard to go wrong with fluke instruments.
  165. P

    Good morning!!!!

Good Morning 43° and the sun shining through the clouds. High of 48 with dissipating clouds, another dry windy day. Should help to dry things up out there. Yesterday got off to a good start with the professor, oldest son joined us as well. Afterwards, I headed off to the electric supply to...

Good Morning. 61°, probably the high for the day. Grey, but not raining, although that is supposed to change later. Yesterday’s trip went well, people that I never flew before, but were very nice. Invited us to lunch at their facility where they had a catered BBQ. We had a great lunch and...

Do you have a loader with third function hydraulics that you could put a cutter on?

Good Morning 42° with a high of 60, partly cloudy and dry today. Yesterday was another lazy day, did get the fountain in the pond along with oldest son and grandson, water sure was cold! But other than that and some cleanup in the shop, this time focused on the shelves of wire, taping up all...

Good Morning 45° with a high around 50 today, grey and breezy. Not a big change from yesterday, but warmer a bit drier. Haven’t accomplished anything significant other continued progress getting the shop back into working condition. I’m looking at working six out of the next nine days...

Looking at the pictures on the news, I’ve got to retract the statement about the fuselage being intact.
  173. P

    Good morning!!!!

On a Bell 206L the engine, transmission and main rotor are mounted on a subframe that apparently departed the fuselage as a unit, tearing off the tail rotor and boom in the process. There is some sort of vibration damping mechanism involved as well. My guess (a WAG at best) is that there was a...

    Good morning!!!!

When I was around 12 or so, I convinced my mom that I needed an oxy-acetylene torch. So the first welding processes that I learned were brazing and fusion welding with the torch. It really upped my game at motorizing my bicycle.

Assuming that that’s the case, the Milwaukee holder for 8 M18 batteries used 350 grams of filament. A 1kg roll costs $17 delivered, so about $6. I would take your bet (and your $1).

I have two basic water trap filters in series followed by a desiccant drier, and a motor guard filter after that. Now I see that you weren’t asking about a TIG welder, but you got my 2 cents anyway…..
  185. P

    Good morning!!!!

I’ve got the TIG225, MIG285 and the CUT60. When I bought the TIG225 the 325 was not available. I would have gotten that if it was available then, but it’s a newer model. It goes higher and lower in current and has a higher duty cycle. I would also suggest the cooler and liquid cooled torch.

Good Morning 38° and raining. High in the low 40’s as the rain continues throughout the day. Yesterday was a relatively slow day, had a smoked cheeseburger at Mission BBQ for lunch with a side of Mac and cheese. Kept me full all day. Tinkered around in the shop, dried a batch of desiccant...

Agreed about the mesh. I put a mesh system that covers the buildings a couple of years ago, and it works great. I used ASUS Zen hardware, three nodes with wired backhaul.
