    FRONT AXLE ISSUE ! - Massey 1500 1600 1700 series tractors (ie 1648 / 1652, etc)

Hey guys -- what does "Bump" mean in TBN forums? How does it get done?

    L3700 starting problem

Yes, and the multi-battery circumstance definitely complicates debugging the issue. The OP's Kubota L3700 would just be a single battery. He probably has added issues down there in St Croix with salt water, salty air and corrosion galore. Ouch on his having to pay $200 for a battery.

    L3700 starting problem

In the original post you said you tried jumper cables from another battery and it did not work. That COULD mean that your old battery (at least one cell of it) was so bad the that the jumper cable battery could not overcome that problem. That's a little rare but I have seen it a couple of time...

    L3700 starting problem

Yes, BUT the OP said that it did " a couple of labored revolutions" when he tried to start it. If it did that , then tapping it with a piece of steel rod or something solid will NOT cause it to crank rapidly. I have a B2150 that I fairly often have to tap the starter with a steel rod or...

    L3700 starting problem

Probably cable connections. Unbolt and clean all of the cable connections not just at the battery but at the frame, the starter, etc. Since you had it turn "a few labored revolutions" that means your solenoid is engaging, which is good. COULD be a starter gone bad, but I'd bet it is degraded...

Advice on after sales FEL for an old BX2200 D (pre-2000 maybe)

Very likely when you drain it there is quite a bit left in that you cannot drain out. A little overfill is not going to hurt anything either. No, but you might want to crawl under and take a shake/look/feel of the U-joints in the drive shaft to the front end. If very lucky it might be something relatively external like that. 28. JWR

How much ballast for an MX6000?

No sir. Incorrect. Any weight centered on the rear axle regardless of source has zero effect on the load on the front axle/tires. Vertical weight added on the tractor chassis forward of the rear axle increases weight on the front tires. Vertical weight added on the chassis aft of the rear...
  29. JWR

How much ballast for an MX6000?

Nope. If any added (or reduced) load is directly over the rear axle it cannot exert (or lessen) any load on the front axle or tires. The load on the front axle is unchanged with no tires, empty tires or loaded tires on the rear so long as the rear axle is a free pivot in the longitudinal axis...

How much ballast for an MX6000?

I see it differently than Jeff. Whatever the cab weight is , yes it is more on the rear wheels , BUT mostly in front of the rear wheels, not behind the rear wheels and thus does not help reduce front wheel/axle loading at all, in fact it hurts slightly. Loading the rear tires is neutral as far...

How much ballast for an MX6000?

Ballast boxes have pros and cons. The lever arm out behind the tractor is shorter with the box than say a bush hog would be. The longer the lever out back the more a given ballast will help unload the front tires/axle. As James said, it really depends on what you are doing and want to do...

F=Ma -- in dynamics the force is the mass x the acceleration. Oil/Fluid pre-heating

Questions: 1) Is your 3030 kept in a garage or at least a closed barn out of the weather? 2) How well or poorly does the coolant heater work? So that diagram DOES SHOW how to properly hookup the deck. I assume that IS in the mower manual, right? Kind of a relief to see that it is documented. Sprytle is right that the BX decks are suspension decks. However, my older B2150 is a ground-rider and is NOT a suspension deck. The B2150...

That sort of thing is what I was suggesting in post #7909 for Tom in Ireland. It would seem like one of these two could be adapted to your flail by either welding or bolting it on. Shaft length/protrusion has to be considered too, but these look like a good find to me.

    Are the rear tires tubed?

If they know what they are doing they do not need to have you answer that question. By the way, where are you? It is helpful discussing each other's problems and questions when we know where you are. Some listeners may be close to you or be aware of regional circumstances. Just a good idea...

    GC1715 Overheating

Dave is right. Some of these have the overflow hose from the base just beneath the radiator cap going into the overflow jug bottom and then the hose leaving the jug at/near the top goes down and out to the atmosphere under the tractor as waste. Of course you need to refill your coolant with the...

    Battery Mounting for L3010 GST

You should try the extent of your battery hold-down hardware. It might still reach an inch higher battery. But overall, the battery Greoup really does not matter. The only things that matter are: Dimensions to fit, terminal orientation (to get the + and - on the correct ends as well as...

MF 231 power steering heavy/ sluggish

I don' know but I have the same issue on a Kubota. All sorts of things have been suggested -- obstructions in the lines or fittings, worn out steering valve at the steering wheel base, the steering cylinder(s),maladjusted relief valve causing low fluid pressure, etc, etc.

    MF 2660 Perkins Smoke

See video attached. [TBN will not so far let me attach a video. I have 2 and neither works.] Not really easy to see but to me it is bluish. Still doing it 9 mos after the above post but there have been some changes: it seems to be happening less often. I have now had it happen on the level...

    FEL Joystick Parts

More on the FEL joystick part: got part costing $56 (vice $60 on eBay which might not have fit...) That is the GOOD news. The bad news is I failed to ask that the part be delivered "for stock" which would have been no-cost shipping. Ripped of by UPS who charged $20 to deliver a glorified golf...

L3560 with cab. How would I know if I'm close to rolling over?

I disagree with Jeff in post #2. This size Kubota is notorious in my opinion for lacking enough rear wheel spacing adjustment. BY FAR the best thing you can do is install 6" wheel spacers each side. Your comfort, confidence AND safety will increase by leaps and bounds. [I did exactly that on a...

Suitcase Weight opinions for a L2501DT

Ruffdog's video makes for a neat solution that does not appear junky like many homebrews would. I do wonder it will clear your loader and other things? Can't tell but it looks like you have grille protector that would be a conflict.
