Massey Ferguson 1740M Hydro: LOSS OF POWER when hot!

$1200 each for fuels injectors?
Or all three for $1200; but I wouldn't be surprised to see a dealer bill out $1200 each as there may be some programing recommended for each new injector. On some common rail diesel engines the serial number of an injector has to be programmed into the ECU as the serial number contains a code for the flow performance of an injector.

You know, this world has gone berserk. I like old used (read that simple) tractors better and better as every day goes by... it is not just insane prices...

It's not just tractors, these days there seems to be issues with everything bought new (generalizing!) Cars, trucks, tractors, zero turns, appliances, cameras ..... lumber!! Why does "nothing last like it used to"? Dunno, I expect there's greed in the equation somewhere.

Common rail injectors are insanely expensive. Mechanically injected machines are much less costly to maintain. Thankful some are still being made

My dealer is baffled by this problem, they had the tractor for almost 4 weeks. I guess a computer update was supposedly the cure. It was returned to me and was not the cure. I want to stress the time(s) in the video that the occurrences happen. My MF 1740M has plenty of power and torque until about 40 minutes of mowing with a light to medium load; as lawn was actually mowed the day before, so this is a re-mow or mulch so to speak. (video edited so you don't see all the in-between). I made the video thorough because I need to emphasize the good run time to power loss / malfunctioning gap. My dealer was told, but it's hard to understand if you're on it for even 20 minutes, it's going to be fine. And, with no load?, it may be over an hour! (I'm not actually sure cuz I only use the tractor w a load/chores). While mowing; Kicking in the A/C makes the loggy-ness happen a tad earlier (~40mins vs ~50mins).

I posted this on one other tractor forum and that's it, I didn't post this on my main Youtube Channel (with 25K Subscribers), so YT surfing trolls shouldn't pickup on this and start the "You shoulda got a Deere!" etc. I want the issue addressed and corrected, I don't want to buy a different tractor as my fix. Appreciate any contributing comments....
Interesting. Your business but that is hugely oversized for a 2 acre lawn. I mow 12 acres with mine. Are you setting the throttle to 2100 for mid mount? Then starting to mow?? I think

So try this. Stop... Does the tractor load when stopped?? Running the A/C and the mower deck. If not, the problem is in the eHydro side. I notice on mine that after about 3 hours of brush cutting my hay field I get a big delay when going from forward to reverse. Also I notice that the auto throttle starts acting weird.. I set my RPMS to 540, but when mowing the auto throttle may push the RPMS above that...Honestly with some of the weird stuff I have seen with my MF "premium compact tractor" I am thinking it is a M...F'er. I regretting getting rid of my "Green tractor". Dealer service is "what month" is good for you? Also lack of qualified technicians is RAMPANT in the industry. I needed a PIN for the 3 point QH 16 mount, 3 F ing weeks to get the pin in. Dealer had to "order" it. I said screw this, went to Tractor supply and found the pin in 5 minutes... AGCO is a European company... They could care less about the US market... Premium tractor my Azz... yup and I am a disgruntled customer. My tractor has 80 hours on it.

OK JS4024. You are a disgruntled customer. We believe you. I assume that means regarding Massey-Ferguson equipment since that is what you are cussin' mad about. OK, you are entitled. You won't, however, be able to claim some stuff without me calling Bull on you. You say AGCO is a European Company. False.

The first line of the Wiki about AGCO states "AGCO Corporation is an American agricultural machinery manufacturer headquartered in Duluth, Georgia, United States." If you want to know published info about AGCO the online encyclopedia Wiki is very extensive on the topic and can be found at the website AGCO - Wikipedia: Lists all countries where they manufacture equipment (8 or 9 of them) and interesting history of the company. It is not a European company.

What tractors do you own/work with? You do not list anything in your TBN info other than JD1025R.

Well, on the part of if this is a big trac/mower combo for just 2 acres?... Well, to average outsider outsider I would say yes, but to someone that can use the tractor, basically for other uses/tasks (that a small lawn-tractor can't do?), it's just a great choice, especially if you want to cut your task time down!

I also would not go back to a non-cab tractor. Priceless not to have small PITA bugs circle your hair. The A/C has been worth every penny too, especially this year!

On your suggestions. I really appreciate your input, thank you. But on this setup as mentioned, it operates at full power for the first 35-40 minutes, then it has no power beyond turning the blades and if you start forward movement (even 3mph) you will drop RPMs, enough so where the tractor barely can then also combine in the climb of a slight grade. "IF" I disengage the mower, just try to go forward it feels like I'm towing a 5ton wagon full of soybeans!

On your heated MF issue, I totally understand your frustration, totally. It's a huge amount of cash invested, and, to have these kind "impactful" power-related issues?. Not good so far. Hmmm, If you think this is getting common, maybe you'll find a class action suite against Agco?

Glad or not so glad I found that thread. I have a 2019 Massey 1740M with 860 hrs on it. So far I was satisfied with it, never had problems. Bushoging, discing, box blade, logging, snowblowing and lot of loader work it have been a great workhorse for me on my 35 acres.

Yesterday I was bushoging (5 feet). It started strong as usual for the first hour or so then it started to bug down exactly like in your video. Wouldn't climb small hills bugging when turning. I always bushog in mid range but it became impossible to do so, even low range was a pita. So I finally parked the tractor

Today I went to finish what I didnt do yesterday cause of the lack of power. Again it started strong which confused me at first since it was almost unoperable the day before and again after about an hour the lack of power showed up. Googled it and your thread on the other forum appear which brought to here.

My powertrain warranty will end late october this year so I'll contact my dealer tomorrow and have a talk with them about the issue.

I always took good care of my machine, always ahead of the manual maintenance schedule. I'll update for you if the situation evolve.

Hey Frank,
Yes, get this documented by your dealer and if it then goes beyond your warranty then you'll still be covered.

On your last paragraph, it's not you doing something wrong, there's clearly a problem and just as you say, it clears up the next day until it gets worked hard again for an extended period of time. My power failure happens at ~40 mins, but if it's a cooler day and I don't have the A/C on I can do the 60 minutes you mention.

Agco/Massey clearly has an issue with these models and needs to address it.

Yes, absolutely make sure you get the problem described well and documented in writing to your dealer and to AGCO. I think they will be honest in supporting you guys with this problem but even so it has to get documented and provable. Good luck.
