Saw Chain care and sharpening tips?

I try to keep them about the same when hand filing- same number of strokes, maybe an extra if one didn't cut well. When I use the Oregon grinder that makes them all the same length. Everything I've read from chain manufacturers says to keep tooth length consistent but they don't say what the tolerance is. I think a reasonably small variation is ok.

Too much emphasis on making each cutter exactly the same, rather than just making each cutter sharp.
.

Not for the OCD in us. They need to be EXACTLY the same :D

For anyone who has seen my hand filing, they understand why I use a machine. You would NOT want me hand filing your saw chains :D

I have to admire those who hand file well.

Those who cannot hand file, must have never used a granberg.

Granberg is a file guide.

You are still filing by hand....

But the file clamps in a jig that is clamped on the bar. Its impossible to file any other angle than what you set the jig at.

I can sharpen a chain (on the saw) as fast as it would take me to remove and reinstall a chain.

I thought a granberg is an electric grinder that clamps on the bar?

Fact check. Actually there are electric versions, not just the hand version
