About 12 block a day is what my back will tolerate. Then there’s tarring the outside and hauling/washing gravel for backfill, grinding and placing rebar, etc. The actual laying of block is about 25% of the job, so I’m happy with the progress rate.
Looks great from my house sir!!

Are you going to fill all the blocks with concrete? I found that a metal feed scooper works great for this. I just scoop the concrete out of the wheelbarrow and into the block.

I’ve already started filling them. I mix up a batch in the mixer, pour it into a mixing tray, and then I’ve been using some old plastic flower pots to scoop it into the block. Since I’m filling at the halfway point, I’m sticking little 2 ft pieces of rebar vertically in every block to help make a stronger bind with the top half when I fill it. That’s in addition to the vertical rebar that is 5 ft long that I put in at every 32 inches.

I totally understand the hot heat you're talking about. Miserable. Watch a lot of shows indoors on tv/internet during the heat of the day.

The elevation where Bo’s place is located typically doesn’t see sweltering temperatures in the summer. But this year we are sweltering even at elevations above 6,000’.

I finally finished the 9th and final course. I was planning on grouting today, but Hurricane Hilary May delay it another day or two. It’s suppose to thunderstorm all day.

You've been busy!!!!

Keeps us posted on the storm, hopefully you'll only get what you need, and there isn't any flooding or damage.

So much for Hurricane Hilary. Like the other Hillary, it was just a lot of hot air. 😄

We got a small sprinkle for a few minutes. Other than that it was just cloudy and cool.

I spent the day on several small jobs in case a storm did materialize. I made a box to slide along the top of the wall that I can dump my mixer into. Cut up some old all-thread to insert as anchor bolts. And hooked up the post hole digger and did a few 4x4 fence posts.

Now it’s time to go out and fire up the mixer!

I got 26 bags mixed before the rains came. My homemade box works really well.
