And finally!
My first window!

It was way more work than I anticipated. I had hoped to do all 10 windows in a couple days, but now it looks like it will take most of the week.
Oh well, it's progress.

In comparison to your logs, the 4X12, you used to frame the window opening, looks like 2X6. Those logs are massive!

Yes, they don't look as big as I thought they would. :)

A window! How do you decide how far/deep in the wall to set the window jambs?

I decided to go for the middle. Some people push them out farther for a little ledge inside the house. Some put them in as far as possible for a flower pot ledge outside. I just decided to run the 4 X 12 along the center of the logs and then set the window in the center of the 4 X 12. Personal preference.

Front window from the inside.

We also passed the propane inspection today. Now I can use my backup generator for power instead of buying so much gasoline.

Nice start on the windows Bo. I can feel your pain here in that you have got a lot done but yet you look at it and say "my I have a lot left to do..." I'm still there myself... The rub is that the work progress slows down the farther you get into the project. Finish work is much more time consuming than rough work.

I'm sure the window progress shines a little light on your progress. It really puts the size of your logs into perspective.
Remember Saturday Night Live when they had "tiny Elvis"? I can think of him saying "Look at those logs man, they are really huge"!

Bo - your place is really starting to take perspective with the window installation. That inside pic especially. Good job. I can imagine that place could be around for hundred of years.
