I don't fully agree.

Although I have been blowing snow just under 20 years, it seems to me that there is a Sweet Spot for distance. To light and it goes nowhere because there simply isn't enough mass (ever tried throwing feathers?), and yet too heavy and the machine just doesn't have the power.

So to my mind, light snow never goes very far, but wet snow can go pretty far as long as you have enough power. The question is, what is "enough"power? Never enough IMO.

That is the beauty of single stage snow throwers, they pull everything in and throw it out of the chute.

I run a single stage snow blower on the Bolens, Every winter for over 20 years. They are not perfect, The style also has a sweet spot, both in loading the auger , and the dryness of the snow.
Just like a two stage blower. The single stage units are lighter, and that means a lot when fitted to a small tractor on varied terrain.

Hello Cal,

I ended up using my Toro Snow pup when the LA115 blew a belt and idler during Stella and I used less than a tank of fuel to clear 3/4 of my drive way after the LA115 brokedown.

If I could get a single stage snow thrower for the LA115 I would do it in a heartbeat as the 2 stage RAD I have is junk and I end up replacing the chute every year or every other year depending on how much ice and slush I have to deal with. I am hoping I can buy a yamaha snow blower this year to solve the problem once and for all as the Honda track drive snowblowers are too expensive.

I will look tomorrow, off hand I can't remember, and in mounting them I have to put 3/8" plate behind them and blow out the bolt holes for auger end bearings. Want to get snug tight fit with no side to side distortion.

I have been researching these for a while now, and I think I will order a SB-60 in the morning. I have not actually seen one but the videos pretty much snow a good blower. I have one of their chippers and it is a great machine. There are a lot of blowers out there and they all seem to move snow. The gearbox and mechanical parts are critical, and this does look rugged enough.

Biggest problem I've seen with Woodmaxx has been delivery. Might be tough to get one on order (for this winter's use) this late in the year

I ordered the WoodMaxx last night. I did put in the comments that I reserve the rights to cancel if it's not here by 12/15. I don't know, that clause might work, it might not. Anyway, I remain hopeful.

That's true...when I ordered a flail mower from Wodmaxx, then they delayed shipment by 4-6 weeks, I had to cancel. Was no problems.
Same thing when I ordered and had to cancel a snow blower a couple years ago.

I expect to order a wood chipper in early 2018 from Woodmaxx. Delays in shipment wouldn't be as critical for that implement.
