Does each battery have it's own charge level gauge ? It maybe that it is discharged beyond the level that the charger thinks that it is a good battery. You could try disassembling the battery and see what the actual charge/voltage level is. Use caution !

Your best bet to keep your batteries in good condition is to use a battery maintainer. As noted above, there may always be some small discharge to keep the electronics of your machine alive. The battery maintainer will keep your battery fully charged but not overcharged. A trickle charger...

If I understand what you are saying correctly, you are NOT using hose clamps at the end of the fuel line. Band wraps will not clamp the hose securely to the barbed fitting, resulting in leaks that you are are experiencing. Richard

I have the Ryobi 14" with two 40V 4AH batteries. Got that when my gas powered saw wore out and would not start anymore. I only need a saw every now and then when a big branch needs to be cut down or a tree need to come down, but the tree cutting only happens about every 5 years or so.

You definitely do NOT want to use gas with Ethanol in it. It will destroy your carb O-rings and gaskets. Locate and buy the 91 octane fuel and ad some of the additives that are designed for older engines that originally used leaded fuel. Your pockit book will thank you. Richard

Hum - hard to believe that a bad battery would cause a fuse to blow. I guess if the fuse was from the alternator to the battery and the battery drew more current than normal, it could happen, but I doubt it.

In Beenthere's photo of the hood parts, look at item #29. It appears that all you have to do is disconnect any head light wires there maybe and then with the hood tipped forward as far it will go, just lift the hood off of the item #29 on each side of the frame. Richard

Is there any shredding on the belt in other areas of the belt ? In the photo, there appears to be some skiffing of the belt at the bottom of the photo. I take it that this belt connects to all the spindles and to the PTO clutch. Is the correct ?

Was the carb bolted on to the engine when you got the mower ? You say it's a Honda engine, can you provide the model number of the engine ? Is there a hand operated throttle lever on the handle of the mower ? Richard

So you have accumulated 19 Ryobi 40v 8ah batteries. Home Depot is listing these at $279 each. So if my math is correct, you have 19 X 279 = $5301.00 invested in batteries. That's a lot of money. I hope that works out for you.

Yep, that's that way it goes. When the smoke leaks out, it stops working. Everyone knows that electronics work by smoke, and when it's gone, then nothing works. Also you should note that any wire cut to length will be too short. Richard

Typically, when the clutch is depressed, the drive belt would be released from the drive pulley on the engine. If the guides that keep the belt it's U-shape around the drive pulley, the belt will want to grab onto the pulley. Can you post a photo of the drive pulley showing the belt guides...

I see that your engine is water cooled. White smoke is a indicator of water getting into the combustion chamber. Oil would cause the smoke to be blue. You most likely have a bad head gasket. Richard
