I think one of the upsides to my 562 is the autotune.  I can mess with a carb and make something "run," but run right, I cannot.  The autotune is really nice for a guy like me.  
I personally like "older stuff," because its just simpler and easier/cheaper to fix.  I don't think I want a truck newer then my 2015 chevy because I can still do a lot of the basic work on it.  I own a 2012 tractor where I would consider the only newer tech to be hydraulic drive.  I think I can fix a lot of that machine.  I got rid of my 2006 polaris because the electronic AWD was a pain to deal with.  So I bought a full time 4x4 honda.
I do like the tech though in a place where I can't do it myself.  Im not a carb tuner so the newer tech is worth it to me.  
Tech is good in some places and bad in others.
