It would make a great hay hauler! But what about your g/n and the ram? I don't mean to be a kill joy but that's a killer hay mover also and I kinda get the idea that you mostly work alone.
Do you have a good bumper pull for behind the IH? I remember you pictured one you were looking at.
I like the idea of having 2 hay haulers. It would speed things up for me. Still much rather have dump truck.

I have just waded through all 27 pages, took 2 hours.
Since it is proving very hard to find the 12' deck you want ,would converting this truck to a 6x6 and have a 16' tip deck(f.o.b. tunion mount) with demountable sides( use a cradle to lift off like a stock crate), and use a dolly on your goose neck to make a trailer to cart hay as a unit?
The stretch would take care of the rusted chassiss section.

A former employer used a 6x4 with a flatdeck/ dropside tipper, 16' deck on ag work ran as a flatdeck carting hay or silage bales and in the maize season woud drop the dirt bin and put the maize bin on and do bulk maize. Sometime he would do maize on night shift and bales on day shift.
He also did earth works in the off season as well.

Or is a 3 axle truck to big to fit on the dirt jobs?

I could put that plan on hold and build the IH 7500 4x4 with a 12’ flatbed.
What if you did that with the final intent of extending the 12' body to a 20-24' tandem flatdeck, you'd be over 1/2 way there with the headboard already done.

The “final plan” is the 7500 4x4 as a dump truck to do ditching, earth work and even to pull a flat bed trailer if my Ram/GN needed help moving hay.

Next year would purchase a used tandem and install a 20-24’ flatbed as a dedicated hay truck.

With almost “blind faith”, I ordered the 12’ dump body. Should be here is a week or 2.
Fixing AC and transmission cooler this week.
Outer frame rails ordered and should be on in July.

Well at least you can now move forward, here's hoping it's in as good a shape as you think, fingers crossed.

Thanks for that. Went into this with the thought it would take 6-12 months to get this truck rehabbed and ready for work. Luckily, the first job we use it for has a flexible timeline. I can pretty much start whenever.
It‘ll be another 2 months until it’s finished enough to use and then lots more small improvements. I’m sure it’ll need plenty more before its ready for work every day.

Hopefully Vander Haags gets my check here in a few days and the dump box can be shipped to me.

Looking forward to the completion and using it for years to come.

So yesterday, we finished the AC. Needed a compressor ($340) and a line ($100). Of course, got 3 of 4 bolts out and the last one was rusted and broke off. Drilled it out, but it took another hour.
The transmission cooler is toast ($495). New one will be here Monday. I can’t imagine why someone would let something get ruined like that and not replace it. Owner of the shop that’s doing some of this work says a transmission cooler isn’t really necessary for short hauls and no mountains around here, but I want to try to do this right with each step.

I also ordered 2 new front shocks ($79 each) and a new cab suspension shock ($59). The money is adding up!
My grille looks pretty bad with the broken fins….guess how much new from IH?

I took it out for a spin to get some fuel and see how it runs. The new turbo and variable geometry actuator make all the difference in the world. It runs GREAT now. The working AC makes it even better! (y)

Yeah they sure are, but this one was speced the way I want and is pre emissions and cheap. I am going to be realistic and remain positive about it. Never seen a truck like this with an HT570 @ 310/1100, 41,000GVWR and 4 wheel drive.

Even after it’s all said & done, probably have about 1/3rd the cost of new (which was never a possibility) and no emissions to worry about.

Anyway, here’s the bed. It’s ready to ship. Just trying to make final arrangements for transportation. I think it looks pretty good for $3,500 (+ tax) lol.

Looks like they are including the pintle plate, pintle hitch and mud flaps.

I would definitely keep the transmission cooler as you are likely to do a fairly high amount of low speed high load off road work in soft ground that will drive up transmission temperatures.

Yep, I was thinking same way. Reversing with a load get’s em hot, too. Never really a doubt in my mind, but the price of the thing was just crazy.

Thats terrible. I remember about 5 years ago was driving down the highway and saw a vertical stack and muffler laying on the shoulder. Stopped and picked it up. It was in good shape. Looked like it just fell off the truck. I posted it for sale on CL and got like $200 for it. Turns out it was from a Mack.
My Case-IH MX270 stack was shot. $950 last winter.
Have no idea how long we can keep going replacing these expensive parts. People will only pay so much for mowing, hay and property work. Now throw in the cost of fuel.

I am still looking for this exact truck
Possibly 6x6? 2003 4700 with a 530 motor, in SLC and has a bucket on it though:

A place in FL has 3 4700s with water tanks, but they have 466 motors, not 530s: https://www.machinerytrader.com/lis...nufacturer=INTERNATIONAL&Year=*2006&Drive=6x6

Aaron,
Hey thanks for those links. The pictured truck is a 6x4. I missed out on the one I showed a few posts ago. The pre emmissions 6x6’s with automatics and larger displacement DT/HT motors are a needle in a haystack.

The tell tale for the front driving axle/6x6 option is the big transfer case hanging behind the cab.

Seems like I’ll look for a few weeks, see nothing, then the week I get so busy I can’t look, one comes up for sale and is snatched immediately. lol

I booked the shipper for the dump body through UShip.
Should be here next week or the following week.

We are getting closer to a complete 4x4 12’ dump truck!
