How do you plow snow?

Vermont doesn't have commercial registration. Commercial vehicles are registered the same as any other. A Ridgeline and Freightliner will both just have "TRUCK" registrations and license plates. Yes, the Freightliner will pay more*, but that's the only difference.

*Only the actual registration. Sales Tax on vehicles registered for more the 10,099# is capped at $2,486, or the equivalent of the cost of a $41,433 purchase price. So the Ridgeline will pay more in sales tax, but less on registration.
I'm aware of that. I live in Vermont. Not all states have the same rules... which is why I started off that post with "In places where it is required..."

When I lived in Ohio, my brother was pulled over by a cop in Ottawa Hills for driving a truck with my uncle's lumber company painted on the doors and hood but with regular plates on it. The cop told him he needed commercial plates for a commercial vehicle. My brother explained that it was not a commercial vehicle. My uncle had given it to my parents and we just used it as a personal vehicle. No commercial activities took place with the truck. The cop continued to insist. When my brother pointed out that the lumber company was in Worcester, MA, yet there it was in NW Ohio with Ohio plates, registration and insurance, so it was unlikely the truck was advertising a commercial enterprise, he was finally let go with a warning "not to loiter in the neighborhood."

We've always suspected that the real reason he was pulled over was that he was driving a total beater truck in a very nice neighborhood. (He was visiting my grandmother, who lived there.)

How would the ins co know it's lettered? I have to send pics to Haggerty for my antique/classic veh's, but not my "regular" car ins co.
my insurance company always inspects my vehicles before issuing a new policy. And they take pics.
