How do you plow snow?

/ How do you plow snow? #161
This is from last year, first and only time I cleared the snow ... Usually it's melted by the time I get home, as I'm a long distance over the road truck driver, and gone for weeks at a time ... If I had my pickup, I would have just driven through it like my neighbors do ... But I had me semi-truck, and a light load, backed off the road and got stuck on flat ground!

We had gotten about 6" the previous day and cold, and it had started to warm up as I was getting home and it was getting soft, packed to ice under my tires ...

How do y'all remove snow? Plow truck, snowblower, 3-point back blade, etc.
Our primary snow mover is the 1989 Jeep Cherokee XJ with a 6'6" Western snowplow. It does a real good job with a front diff lock, 5 speed with the 4.0L. It's nice to have a heated cab. Traction becomes an issue in wet, sloppy spring snows though. View attachment 4419913
2008 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 and a 5’ blade. Makes easy work of 3000’ of driveway

Nice! I can see why that one is not your plow truck!

I have a ‘51 Dodge M37 (Korean War pickup truck). It’s very mechanically sound (engine & transmission rebuilt, brakes upgraded, etc), but it’s more of a “work in the woods” truck (or occasionally haul a pile of kids for some parade or other event. I’ve been debating adding a plow, but Vermont winters are not nice to vehicles: I just have not been able to bring myself to subject it to all of the road salt. I did get tempted when a local friend advertised a nice Fisher plow for sale.

That's the glossiest Rat Rod patina I've ever seen. Nice (y)

Nice truck. Who did the louvers?
The truck is the way we bought it (including the louvers), primer, partially sanded back over the earlier red paint. I did a wipe-on clear to keep the primer from rusting. After two years we're still unsure if we're going to paint it. Probably not.

The rat rod look is in, I think it looks good just the way it is.👍

Now THAT is a TRUCK!!!
M37 Trucks were made for the Korean War, and the first part of the Vietnam War. Built like a tank, but underpowered by today's standards. Max speed is 55, but they are generally more comfortable slower than that. However, they will go just about anywhere.

To the OP: sorry for the topic drift.

This time of year, I plow more gravel & mud than I do snow. At least until the ground freezes anyway.

Yeah, it really takes some finesse to do it this time of year. I do find it a bit easier with the UTV with its lightweight plow rather than using the loader or snowblower on the tractor. I'm also closer to the action on the UTV, so it's easier to react quickly.

Luckily this year we got alot of rain before the freeze took over. Ground if nicely frozen. Got 5” of snow on ground, but calling for warmer weather. I may plow it just so i dont get slush pile….not sure though. I would probably melt away just fine. I look when it gets abit brighter outside

I'm keeping the "farm truck look" on my recently bought Ford F100. I'm looking into a matte finish wipe-on preservative, since I don't like the gloss.

I did a 50/50 mix of satin and gloss.

My son has a 1960 F100 that is pretty OG looking (it's not - it was Navy Gray, literally, and got painted red sometime later) and he wants to keep it that way. He keeps talking about taking the rest of my satin to do his. He added a blow-through turbo (home "built") to the straight 6. The insurance co made him take the lettering off, and he's blasted/painted the wheels white but otherwise still looks the same This is when he first brought it home about 5 years ago.
