How do you plow snow?

You know what would have happened if you didn't

gg
Yeah, and that's why I regret getting ready for a measly 18 inches. We really need the snow, or at least rain.

Realistically, that amount would've been easy to deal with just using the rear blade on the M6040. Or, do nothing. It's not like we'd be trapped. Even our Ram 1500s can deal with that "much".

But it is nicer to get prepared while the sun is shining.

We got about 4 or 5 inches of accumulation. Not sure how much we would have gotten if some of it didn't melt before it started to accumulate. Talking a half inch tonight. Nothing to speak for Thursday or Friday and then another 1 to 3 for Saturday.

I have all my winter snow gear set up to install on the tractor, but havent done it yet. I dont like damaging the roads with the chains, which happens if i install them too early. I may go ahead and install the hydraulic power pack and hoses on the tractor this wekend….well see.
So you remove the front to rear hoses when you take the blower and power pack off? I have left my hoses in place, and have quick connects for the two implements. Of course either way works.

Ya, i remove everything. There like a 1” hose and expensive. Kinda in the way for doing logging and such. They also are slung under tractor so i dont like to go thru forrest with them on. Installing the tank and hoses doesnt take very long. Its installing that pto mount pump that SUCKS. I actually think it grows durring the summer. Its always 50 # heavier the following year.

I live out in hilly ski country about 20 miles south of Buffalo NY, so mostly real snow. I've been getting by with walk behind snowblowers. I have a main machine a 28" Ariens, a backup unit and a backup to the backup, which are both 25+yr/old MTD variants that I keep going.

I've also added my little TYM T224 SCUT this year. I just have the stock ~48" bucket on it with some lame Chinese edge tamers on it so I don't excavate any of my pavement with all that Korean mite.

My wife uses my small 24” Ariens walkbenind for the walking paths, but i have about 1000’ of driveways to maintain, plus horse pens and roof shed snow piles to clear. Need the tractor

My driveway is only like 200'. Last year I bought a new (just needed carb cleaned) snow blower for $100. I actually don't mind snow now.

The guy was asking $300... But he couldnt get it started when I showed up. So I took it for $100 and cleaned the carb.

I could use the 4820.... But it's not really needed

That was a good find! It looks brand new for an older Craftsman unit with a Briggs. I think that's an old Murray designed unit. Better than MTD, about on par with the AYP/Husqvarna based units.

If I were just doing my driveway I would use my 30" Ariens walk behind. Walk behind blowers are very cost effective and efficient.
A few years ago I added a small gas powered single stage blower to my fleet, and that thing is perfect for sidewalks, between cars, or really any small area.
