nahhh .. just sneak into the kitchen ... pick any set of plugs ... make a special adapter with 2 120 plugs on it .... and a 240 plug on the other end ...

the "hot" lug on each 120 socket should be on a different leg on the breaker box ... presto ! 240 from 120 outlets ....

but the old folks home will still frown at welding in the kitchen:laughing: ... ( ooops , must have burned the potatoes again ... sorry )

Just make sure the kitchen has ceramic tile flooring. Carpet, HArdwood, and Vinyl (sorry cant spell lineol.....leniol...lyneol.....ahh whatever it is)

Truth be told it would be kind of fun to set up. Everything in its place. Rods in oven, utensil hangers for wire brush and chipping hammer, 'how to' guide books for welding with 120v on the cook book shelf, beer in fridge......... Maybe something we can all look forward to. :)

OK. All the guys that are having a house built, make sure to have a fire proof kitchen installed. Or better yet, have a kitchen built in the shop. And a bathroom. And bedroom.

Come to think of it, with a well equiped shop, who needs a house.

Just installed a small refrigerator in my shop. Excuse was I needed it to store adhesives. :D

Hope SA didn't give up on us! This is using 110v on 1/8in... push (right to left) vs pull (left to right). Settings the same, manual 6/60 volt and wire speed. Did the push late at night so steadiness not so good but noticed a couple of differences. Bead is wider and flatter on push. I also tried upping the voltage about 10% and dialing down the wire speed to 50 and a got a crap bead. Not even worth sharing.

I like that little gauge.

It looks like you're doing a back and forth motion like you would with 6010 when pushing? There are times when that can work with MIG but for now just try to have a steady weave or even circles to get a uniform width bead. Pushing should be wider and flatter and more volts will give a wider bead too but that doesn't mean you can just crank the volts up.

I feel that my motion is more exaggerated than need be. Having fun with patterns, angles, and such and comparing welds... banging on them and not being real productive at all! :D

I will put my Clarke 130 EN mig welder up against any other welder ...no matter how big... and I am a brand new welderer ...;) Who cannot be discouraged...They make different size pick up trucks for different needs ...same with welders....:2cents:

Since I welded a 1/8 inch plate 2 in. wide by about 18 in. long to the curve on the left front of my mower deck on my Murray Lawn Tractor...I have smacked into a huge rock....I can't believe I did that...just got too close and it did not even ding the plate I welded on...I had to weld it on to protect the already bent mower deck at that left front corner...it had been dented in and pulled back out so many times...when I cut the banks and turn up the inclines it would always push that side of the deck in...not any more this fixed it....and I hit that rock harder than I had ever hit before....

Just saying my little welder did its job....about 4 passes on the plate welding it to the mower deck and it is holding up...

Sounds like another successful project done with a 110v welder!

Thanks...and yes..it is exactly the 3rd thing I have fixed with my $100.00 welder...first was my Son's rake...about a $20 rake he was going to throw away....then my Bush Hog..two rips on the top of the deck...fixed and tested...probably would have cost $200 for a welding shop to fix...and now this mower deck...probably $75 ? from a welding shop...So I'm a happy newbie welder....my welds are not pretty ...not near what some of you guys show with your stack of dimes look but so far they are holding and it has save me $$$$

Newbie question - how does the Century 135 110v welder compare to the Lincoln and Clarke 110v welders discussed in this thread? (Assuming flux core in all cases).

I have a welderer buddy that used to have one of those clark welder's. He claimed it was the best mig welder he has ever owned. He used it for exhaust work. He has owned Miller, Lincoln and currently has a Esab and he said that old clark would out weld all of them. Not sure if the newer models are as good as his old machine was.

S.A. , Please tell me You did not Buy that Welder ?? I would of sent you my SP135+ model already with a 10# spool of .035 in it to play with for free , ( as long as you would send it back when done playing :) ) . Heck , From Southern Orygun to Washington would not be that much in shipping .

The old Clarke USA went bankrupt, they used to make some good equipment. The new Clarke is an import company, so your mileage will vary...

Shield Arc hasn't posted a thing for a week, I sure hope he is OK.

Mine is an old Clarke Welder...but I don't think anymore Clarke welders are being sold...Instead the company that bought their assets have copied the Clarke welder and are selling it under a new name....so I can still get replacement parts....

Here is a post from a user on the Amazon Clarke Welder site I pasted below...." By D. smith on April 25, 2012
just to let everyone know the clarkes are the same as forney welders so the parts interchange no worry forney is still alive and well over 70 years. example.....clarke 130en is exactly the same as a forney 130fi "

Clarke WE6523 130EN 120-Volt Fluxcore/MIG Welder - Mig Welding Equipment - Amazon.com

So Forney...a company in business for over 70 yrs. has all the parts....
