Thanks again, for the extra info, parerron! When I was riding the new, BIG guy in March, I was wearing 3 layers of clothes, on a cold day. (My first time back on a horse, since the wreck in 2002!) I used a step ladder, and still had to work to get my foot in the stirrup to get mounted! I'm sure it looked like the Amateur Hour! Me, out of condition for mounting and riding, plus the garb, equipment, and size of the horse, had to have been a sight! The lady that taught him his "basics" after he left the track, did a GREAT job of teaching him to stand still! I stand 16.3 hands myself, but that isn't always an advantage, when one has lost their "spring" to mount up! And your horse is beautiful!
Kyle; I'd take those steps, but won't have any way of getting them and hauling them. I won't have any hauling capacity when I am in Austin in 2 weeks, or I'd ask if you could bring them there. I hate to see something useful stuck in a burn pile. Maybe someone else would like them for mounting steps, that is closer to you.
Oh, and jinman; Let's not talk about fat parts of the body, please!

Congrats on more melons! I actually bought a Pecos cantaloupe on my way home yesterday. My truck smelled wonderful when finishing my trek, and the house smells like it, this morning! It will be lunch today! My Fall garden stuff looks good, but I did water this morning. I have to pick okra today, as well!
On a side notel It was the alternator that was my Thurday night warning. Was in warranty, so didn't cost me any $$, just time and aggravation. So, 15 hour work day Thursday, and 9 hours yesterday. That is the downside to taking a holiday off, one has to "suck it up" somewhere, and cram 5 days into 4! I got up at my usual 0330 this morning. Started laundry and cleaned a little. When I moved the first load of laundry to the dryer, I went to lie down for a few minutes. I fell asleep, and was awakened by the dogs 2 hours later! The horses thought I had forgotten them too! Felt good to sleep, but I am not used to the day truly beginning as late as 0730!
