woodmaxx flail mower?

REALLY? Then WHY do people ask for others' input for all sorts of other things? AND, there HAS been some feedback here from OWNERS, but has been early feedback.

azkubotaguy, yes, I saw that you had mentioned that you did not wish to wait any longer, I completely understand that: I'm patiently waiting, several months, for a tool box. IF Woodmaxx did not communicate the back-order queue well then THAT is certainly not good; BUT, again, I am looking for feedback from people who HAVE one.

Asking for feedback on a Kubota BX is one thing, but as evident here, it may be a while before enough users own certain uncommon or new implements before first hand feedback is available. Leonz gave you pretty good advice if you need an answer now.

Please, stop. I am asking PEOPLE WHO OWN A WOODMAXX. If you don't own one then PLEASE do not waste your or my time, thank you!

NOTE: There are already people who have given feedback, who OWN a Woodmaxx flail mower. I am just asking for a follow-up. I CAN WAIT.

I just took delivery of the 78 inch hydraulic shift model this week. I've just got it hooked up and the PTO shaft adjusted so no real use yet other then a very brief test on a small patch of woody edge row. The flail came well packaged in a metal frame/pallet and required no assembly. The unit is solidly built and the fit and finish is good. The unit ran smoothly during my brief test and laid waste to the small patch I tried it on. The included pto shaft is a low end China model but does the job. I ordered mine with the duck foot blades installed and also ordered a set of Y blades. I have a look of barberry and invasive junk on my woodlot so I intend to put to the test when I get a chance.

Looking forward to hearing how the hydraulic shift works out. I'm always fighting to not hook fence posts wile mowing as tight as possible to the fence. Hydraulic shift seems like the answer. Also curious what you think about how duckfoot vs side slicers work out in brush vs grass. My beatup old Ford 917 is just getting more beatup & I keep eyeing those Woodmaxx...

Lesson #1 on TBN: if you aren't the OP, DON'T tell others what to post and what not to post. It is rude and makes you look like a little jerk.

Lesson #2. If you don't like a thread go start your own.

To all that are interested....

I have finally had a chance to put my woodmaxx flail to the test. Mowed about 2 acres of heavy grass/weeds, and part of and also some grass/clover cover crop.

My unit has the side shift and duck foot blades. I'm very happy with the performance over all. It will cut at a surprising pace, and leaves a finely chopped layer behind. Side shift is really useful along tree lines etc.

The only complaint's at this point are:
The gearbox weeps oil from the vent. I will correct this with a short hose to extend the vent up higher.
The paint has faded quickly.
The scraper for the roller is vunerable, and has bent. I will be removing it and if needed reinforcing it.

I would buy one again. Considering value for the price, I'm happy. I will be planting acres of clover and wildflowers for bee yards. Maintaining these will be it's main use and I don't see it wearing out.

I got a chance to run mine a bit this weekend as well. It performed well, turning barberry and other assorted woody junk into fine chips . The only issue I had was that I hit a big rock with it and lost a blade. I was able to find the blade and ordered a couple extra duck feet and bolts from Woodmaxx. I think all have to be a bit more careful about scouting the mowing area. I'm basically mowing in the woods and there are a lot of rocks that aren't apparent until you knock down the overgrowth.

I had some of the same sort of thing, I was able to pick up a low cost brush hog to take the first cut with. I'll probably sell it in the next year or two after I've gotten the rough stuff all cut. I found lots of stumps and rocks this way. But did it with a mower that can take the abuse better. Then went through the area with the root rake to clean out most of it.

I would suggest making a bracket that raises that roller scraper angle iron. Its current design is awfully low.
