Finally got around to putting the new flail mower together. It's a BCRL155. I received this thing the second week in August, and it has been sitting here in a crate. The tractor had problems. The new used Kubota mower had problems. The utility cart had problems. Plus it was August, so I didn't want to work any more than I had to.

I cut up the crate with a sawzall, and now I am trying to put the mower together.

Interesting thing: I ordered this from Victory, and the crate says Novatractor. The mower itself says "Bowell." I'm not sure the Chinese are competent to come up with appealing European-sounding names. Someone needs to tell them what a bowel is. I'm going to take the mower off my driveway and try it in a pasture. That will be a Bowell movement.

It looks surprisingly good.

The manual is hideous, but I found a much better one from Tar River Implements, which I will upload.

That's my wife's shadow. She bronzed for the East Germans in the 1988 Olympics.

Thanks.

A couple of the bolts need to be tightened up. Once that is done, I doubt I'll have any reason to worry about a loose Bowell.

The W.R. Long rear remotes I installed are too zippy for my taste. The mower tilts and extends way too fast. I may have to read the manual. I hate to go to extremes like that.

Okay; just checked the manual, and it's not helpful. This is a problem, because an overactive Bowell can have serious ramifications, especially at my age.

There is an adjustment valve on the tilt cylinder. It does nothing until I crank it way down. Then the flow is very slow in one direction and very fast in the other. There is no adjustment valve on the other cylinder.

What do most people do when they have this problem with their Bowell?

Pepto bismal

Flow restrictor that restricts in both directions will keep semi consistent in both directions if and repeat IF it is installed in the line that controls gravity movement. Other option is flow control in both lines to cylinder so can control speed individually in both directions.

Thanks for the help. That's what Victory said when I emailed them today. I have the parts on the way.

I look forward to having my Bowell's flow tamed.
