Using a hard spacer to make sure the trusses are on center. This idea worked well & actually caught a layout problem before it got too bad.

Here's the finished framing. All trusses up, lath & fascia finished ready for roof & siding metal. Of course there's some diagonal bracing & all the interior stuff to finish but this is a huge milestone for us.

Here we are working on the high roof on the North side. Until about 2 it was cloudy with almost no wind so handling the foil insulation & the metal roof sheets wasn’t bad @ all. I’m the one the left & yes, I’m wearing a full body harness tied off.

This is the last sheet on the high North roof. It wasn’t very fun to get this one in since there was no place to stand but on the next to last sheet. My buddy held tight onto my lanyard to help give me some “confidence tension” while I walked around, carefully screwing down the sheet.

After lunch the wind came up & it was just too dangerous to work on the South high roof, so we moved down to the South low roof & finished laying down the foil insulation & screwing down the roof metal.

Getting the foil insulation nailed down in the breeze was definitely a 2-person job. 2 others on the ground passed up the sheets

The end of the day the wind died down & we got back up on the South high roof & 2 widths of insulation down along with 3 sheets of roofing. Here’s a view of the South side. What a great feeling @ the end of the day to have been able to get 32 sheets of roofing down. Now we’re counting down the last 13! That’ll be great when we get it all down.

Here’s a view of the North side w/all the roof DONE! Next on this side will be the trim for the short high siding along with the high siding.

Here’s a close up of the service door & framing from the inside of the soon to be tack room. The electric sub panel will be to the right of the door. This door is pretty much in line with the stairs coming off the back porch of the house.

Well it's been a while since I posted, bad weather & other chores have somewhat interrupted barn progress. Here's a photo of how I "tweeked" a bowed beam so that the door track would be straight.

Here's a close up of the big rooling door track, cover & sheet metal fabricated end caps I made to keep the weather off the exposed end of the 2x4 holding the track.

Here's shot of the door jamb flashing. Had to cut & bent it a bit around my beam corbels.

Here's a long range view of the new barn, house & shop (left to right). The new barn location will be much handier than the old one that is behind where I took the photo.
