What battery charger do you use?

I have an AGM battery in my Hustler Raptor X lawn mower that needs charging. I've been told that a normal battery charger (Schumacher SC-600A) can't be used. What battery charger are you using for AGM batteries? Also, the battery in my Kioti DK4510 is getting weak, and I'm thinking of replacing it with an AGM battery. Any suggestions and/or issues?

The only AGM battery I might have would be inside my computer Universal Power Supplies, and by definition those units contain the charger. But, the last 10 amp battery charger I bought - from Harbor Freight about five years ago - has a switch on the front to go from "standard" to "AGM."

I’m a firm believer in using battery maintainer on everything while they sit. My one tractor the original battery lasted 15 yrs before needing replacement.

I use a Schumacher SC1359. It has an AGM mode. Has been working great for a couple of years.

This does it just fine for AGM. And its not mentioned, yet it does lithium too on the 2Amp charge setting!

I have a Battery Tender™ which puts out a steady 16v no matter what (yes, it is broken and long out of its 10 year warranty). Have a couple others which do the right thing. All my new battery maintainers are NOCO.

Another point to make is that Ford manages one’s vehicle battery different if AGM vs lead-acid. The setting is in Ford’s service computer and also accessible by the public with Forscan.

NOCO from Walmart or Amazon. Super solid and reliable.

Bummer. I probably have at least 10 BatteryMINDers by now, the oldest ones from the late '90s. Never an issue...so far.

Recently had a small NOCO kill a good battery, though.

What you have to understand is a battery is a chemical reaction, it will attempt to justify load (amperage output) no matter what it is till it implodes....

I have one of the CTEK chargers, which has the correct charging profile for AGM batteries and conventional ones. It automatically transitions to a maintainer once a battery is charged. Supposedly, it also has the ability to work miracles with discharged/neglected batteries. Overall, it seems to work well, so I'm happy.

For faster charging of a discharged battery, I'll hook up my several decades old Schumacher charger that keeps on tickin'.

Each of my 5 trailers has a battery, the only one with a solar charger is the fuel trailer. Some sit for an extended time without being used and are not near a plug for a charger. I just bought the Dewalt 4-amp charger/power pack that uses the 20V Dewalt batteries. Plan is to put it on a trailer and let it charge up. The charger indicates when it is a full charge. It is not a jump starter, just a trickle charger. No more dragging the big charger around or stretching extension cords.
