Using tractor in water - Bad idea?

I try to avoid water submergence with wheeled equipment. The seals "aught to" keep water out as long as you don't get to the axle center line, but what about a seal with some wear? or a crack or tear? To me, the extra time & effort of a go around is an investment. Just how I try to operate.

Sometimes it cannot br avoided. Look at rice farms, they water level the fields. Some are getting away from it, some still donit.
