They are sized pretty well that anything that hangs up will break and fall out. Yet still rip out roots pretty good and great grip on odd shaped or small surface area stuff you want to grab.

Oh my! That's what i'm talking about!!!:thumbsup:

And yours is a 55" Single Lid, right?

Just ordered an 66" single lid. Won't be for a while until I am able to use it as I first need to get the tractor! (it's on order) I've been doing a lot of mental picturing of what I could pick up with the grapple on the new tractor and figure that I could pick up a non-loader B7800 :D For more practical purposes, I DO have several recently excavated stumps (and lots of older stuff) that await the bite from the WICKED:)

I went wider because I like to snag blackberries and stuff as I'm mowing along, kind of run along in arcs (old logging paths/roads through heavy brush): I do this on my B7800 using it's toothbar. A narrower grapple would have me punching further off path and exposing more of the tractor to the various nasties. If not for this "specialized" need I'd have gone narrower (IslandTractor's logic is good).

I ordered a 66in dual lid. It should be here possibly by Friday... I went with a 66in for similar reasons. I have several trails and a fence line that I want to get close to the edges of without getting the tractor or me into the brush directly.

I have several trees and limbs down and just waiting for the first test. I'll post pics.

This is a 78" Construction Attachments Extreme Duty Grapple... on a 5100e.

My Danuser Intimidator pulled a old woven/barbed wire fence line with encumbering Honeysuckle and crappy 2-4" sapplings. Put it in piles... then I returned returned with my Grapple.

First bite was small and I thought... "This is going to take forever!" took it about 1/4mile to my burn pile location.
Second bite... well... it wasn't so small. The wire and criss-crossed trees, roots, brush created a connection which kept me from removing a 'bite'. It actually just took the whole rest of the pile. So, I geared down and pulled the whole thing.

This thing is big and heavy however... I have found I really need a ballast box. Even with over 900lbs of beet juice in each back tire.

Thanks for sharing!
Yes, those CA Xtreme Grapples are HEAVY!!
They're good for 80-100+ AG tractors and large skid steers, but not so much for tractors under 75-80HP.

This is the reason we started making our Wicked Utility Grapples, which are in the 600 pound range VS the CA grapple being 900-1,000+ pounds!
They're very manageable, actually quite ideal, even for these new high HP compact tractors like our L6060 Kubota, the NX Series Kioti, 4066R JD tractor, etc.
Single Lid Wicked Utility Grapple
Dual Lid Wicked Utility Grapple

The Danuser Intimidator is an animal in it's own class! Very nice. I have a TBN thread for it over here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/347896-thing-rocks-clamps-digs-pulls.html?highlight=

You need at least a 2000 lb box or a heavy implement the next time you go grappling. :)
