We just got back from the Denton County Farmer's Market. There were only 4 vendors there this morning. One of them told me some others had signed up; didn't know if they're coming or not. We did buy white and yellow squash and zucchini, okra, peaches, tomatoes, and purple hull peas. They didn't have any watermelons, figs, or blackeyed peas. The purple hulls and cream peas were already shelled in zip lock bags. They did have cantaloupes, onions, corn on the cob, potatoes, round and yellow zucchini, as well as the regular zucchini.

According to my calculations you are about $500 ahead, not counting labor, compared to my accumulation of veggies this no rain year.

:laughing:Don, at the north end of our street is an older couple who have a home that was here before the town and other development. And he has a big vegetable garden every year, but we were by there this morning and I've never seen his garden looking so sickly. Even the okra looks like it's dying from lack of water, and I didn't see a thing that looked like any harvest in the future. Of course we haven't had even a trace of rain in the past 3 weeks.

Bird,
It has rained here 16 out of the last 18 days and the ground never warmed up much after planting the garden in May as the weather was abnormally cold so the gardens here are pretty much drowned out. Last year we had a drought all summer but with watering every other evening we had a good yield. I'm ready for some old fashioned normally balanced weather, but that is not predicted for years to come.

Yep, Ron, it's amazing, isn't it how some get too much rain and some too little.

Bird, the old Trade Square was on the east side of the square between Mulberry and Hickory street in the 2nd block diagonally across from the 1st Methodist Church. It died when they put in parking meters and started charging timed parking for the vendors. I think the farmers considered that their area and were insulted when Denton decided to make parking there a profit center.

Kyle did you sign the petition to re-name Lee County. Every big wall of clouds and rain that approaches the county divides and goes on either side leaving us dry. The new name will be Moses County.

Yep, but I want to allow choices on the ballot. Like Jim stated, Sahara, Gobi, etc. I recently saw some show where they claimed some mountain area in Chile or Argentina being the driest place on earth. They haven't been to our county lately.

Western; I know a good chiropractor. He's in W'ford, but good and honest, and very competent. PM me if you want his number. Sorry to hear about your back.
