Suggestions finding the right tedder

I don’t think those will road very well on the tiny lawn mower tires.
But enrossi makes big units, too or at least they did….

I’d rather be 21’-22’ than 19’. A little oversized makes constant steering adjustments go away.

Tedder lets you turn and fluff the hay so the "bottom" hay comes to the top, but is still spread out wide to dry in the sun & wind.

Normally you use on hay after it is mowed to speed up drying. I normally ted once, even for haylage, since it gains me half a day minimum for little time spent.

Sometimes ted twice if it gets rained on.

Can ted out windrows if they get soaked, then rerake when dry.

Not much worse than raked, then soaked hay windrows. I never rake too far ahead once there’s a chance of rain.

I think I have some “recency bias”. We have had a couple years now where the tedder is seldom used. Now that I have sold mine, I am relieved that the poor roadability issue and wrong size issue is gone, but now I have a new problem: finding the right size (20’ or 30’), better-roading tedder and keep the price sane.

Not sure how far you have to road, my Kubota has 16x16.5-8, it pulled zero issue behind my pickup at 25 MPH from the dealer, was a long drive home so a good test. Seems to me they are actually trailer service tires. I am on blacktop almost every trip to the field with the tractor and it pulls fine.

I agree you want slightly bigger for ease, seems like next jump up is 24 -26 class like you had.

Thanks for the explanation Farmer495. That's kind of what I thought it was used for but I wasn't exactly sure. Now I do understand, it's primary purpose is to be used "before" raking to speed up the drying timeframe. Got it now.

I rake right before baling, if it's not ready to bale it stays in the swath. Isn't fun to rake the field, get it rained on, have to ted it out, then re rake a day or two later.

Cheap option with zero road issue is 10' 3pt two rotor. Perfect for spreading a windrow at time too. Might look stupid on your big tractors!

Tempting. I like the German machines and at 22', it would cover my pottinger front and side mowers @ 11' each. There's a little overlap so it's really about a 20' cut.

I wasn’t planning on spending or financing that much, but yes it is a perfect fit.

There were several dozen spam type posts tacked on to separate threads... They were particularly revolting.
FYI, in addition to a batch several weeks ago , they appear to be coming from posters with 30-40 posts over the course of 10 years or so. To me, that means accounts are getting hacked (?).
