Stupid Things I Have Done

Buddy of mine putting a dryer vent in his house with a hole saw ripped off a gigantic run of vinyl siding f- up his wrist, couldn't understand why, thought the hole saw was defective or something, I told him to fix it, I came over ran the hole saw in reverse to get thru siding. Of course some bystanders will make a snarky comment about the drill being in reverse initially lol

Whether cutting a threshold with carbide or vinyl with a hole saw, it's the same problem: Tooth pitch any greater than material thickness can cause it to catch, with the resulting action being either breakage or throwing of material or operator. Running in reverse is always a way to avoid this, and in fact I remember guys installing circular saw blades backwards to cut siding 30 years ago, because they didn't have the right blade for the job on-site.

I do a lot of work with bandsaws, and often have to change band blades to accommodate different material thicknesses. That's a lot more work than changing a circular saw blade on any machine, by the time you reset the guides and all.

That's the easiest way to drill holes through drywall with a hole saw as well

So many times...
How about it's 10°F outside and sleeting...so two pair socks, briefs, union suit, t shirt, sweatshirt, thermal pants, suspenders, lace up boots, down jacket, heavy gloves, ski mask...then outside.
Stomach pain? Maybe it's just gas? Uh-oh...that bean burrito wants out! ...so back inside...can I make it in time?

That's like ice fishing, when you have to pee, and you're wearing 3" of clothes, and have a cold 1" wee wee to get out 😳
