I'm worried it seems like a lot of hours for only a 2 year old vehicle. But I don't have one so I don't know if that's common hours.

I would be babying whatever I buy. I have 6 acres that I like to putz around on and I like to spray round up and go for gravel road rides. But I would not be heavily using anything.

I made an offer of $4k knowing they probably would not accept, but they did come down to $4500.

Let it ride a day or three and see what they say. Polaris is offering killer deals on cash back and financing on new so I doubt he is getting his door knocked down.

They said they've actually gotten a lot of $4000 offers already and iv probably believe them. Utvs are pretty scarce in my area used.

I would jump on that polaris 400 for that money myself . Offer to split the difference with them and see what they say . I just bought a set of tires for my ranger for less than $400 for bearclaws at Kenda Bear Claw ATV Tire | UTV | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Exelent rated tire and so far i like them , but only got about 100 miles on them .

I would love a mid size ranger however I too have a problem with having no money! I have resigned myself to starting out with a utility golf cart which I can think handle most of what I need to do out here in the country. Around here they go about $2500-3500 for any in half way good condition. Then I'd have to add some things. While trying to decide I saw the American Sportworks chuck wagon utv at our local Farm and Ranch store. It's only 2 wheel drive but for around $4000 surely it would be better that a golf cart? I'll never be able to afford a new Ranger 400 or 570. To get the best bang for the buck, do you think this would be better that a golf cart?

I had (have?) no experience with UTVs but wanted one for our place. Got a '94 Yamaha Rhino for $4,000 (more used competition out here, I think). I like it a lot. It is slower than I expected, and louder. Both things I can live with.

But I don't know how to care for it, so I'll drive it as long as I can, then...

Those older "bobcat" club cars are actually really useful. No 4x4 but with the rear locked in they do pretty well. I had one a while back and would buy another in a heartbeat.
They did make a 4x4, it was the model 2200.

I had two, first this gas powered one.

Traded it in on this diesel powered one.

Both were very good machines.
