Made a front and rear blades for the BX, went looking for a new snow plow all dealers were out of stock. Made the blades out of a 100gal upright LP tank.

Wow, I like the propane tank blades. I will remember that when I build my front loader grader blade. I made a grader blade for my backhoe bucket. It is 1/4 inch bent to 35 degrees to form the "moldboard" with a Tractor Supply King Kutter 6 foot cutting edge from a box blade as the cutting edge. I make a plywood mock up of the "glove" mount to slide over my 24 inch backhoe bucket. This mockup let me design it so it would clear the backhoe's boom when I stowed it and the bucket's teeth would clear the cutting egde's bolts. A chain holds it on, but allows it some slop to grade a little on an angle.
The welding shop that bent the 1/4 inch plate couldn't bend 6 feet, so they cut it in half and bent two, 3 foot sections and welded it up. 9-15-13 Painted Grader Blade Backside.jpg9-13-13 Grader Blade Glove Mount.jpg9-13-13 Grader Blade Bend Profile.jpg

I used to build tap-holders that hold taps from 6-32 to 0-80. A very solid rig. You can cut a perfect 0-80 thread in titanium like butter. I sold as many of these as I could make for $75 each to other knifemakers.

Welcome to TBN Mean Green.

Very impressive finished products, and intermediate processes.

The craftsmanship of some of you guys is just exceptional. By comparison this effort of mine is almost too rough to post here but it did the job for me today and might help someone else out out of a jam.

I backed the tractor into one of the taps that is connected to my bore. The tap was on a black poly pipe riser that was threaded at both ends. I snapped off the tap and most of the top thread. (The bottom end was under concrete so replacing the riser would not have been simple). I don't know if you can get glue-on connections for black poly pipe but the hardware store is a miles away anyway so I decided to try and make my own die and cut a new thread.

Using my angle grinder I cut chunks out of an old 3/4" galv tee piece. Its a bit of a mess but I got an arrangement that worked. 4 angled teeth, about 1/4" wide, with about 1/2" space between them. (If I was making it again they would be a lot more evenly spaced.) You need a lot of space between the teeth to allow the plastic to shed off.

At first the new thread was so rough that I thought I was wasting my time but as I cut further down the thread became a lot cleaner and sharper. Eventually I cut about twice as much thread as I needed and then cut off the top inch. With a few turns of plumbing tape the tap went back on and sealed perfectly.

alchemysa - You just gotta love back yard mechanics. Very clever.

this is not my invention.... there is a video on you tube already - I just copied it...

I wanted to make raised beds - with the tiller.. so I copied that guys design...

Use 2X8X10 - makes a 8 inch tall bed raised above the ground - have a five foot tiller (for the commercial folks I am sure my tiller is a POS - but it woks...)
I reduced the output to 30 inches, so I get 30" wide 8" tall raised bed directly from the tiller output...

Alchemysa, it is said that when a real farmer needs a tool, he builds it. You, my friend, are a real farmer. Well done.

I have done something similar to clean up the threads on a wall fitting for a shower arm, using a grinder on a pipe plug. The fitting was too shallow to allow a proper tap. This was after picking the remains of the old shower arm threads out of the fitting. Didn't take much to clean up the remaining putty and metal bits and straighten out the threads. A little tape and everything sealed up nice.

I have lots of stumps and trees to remove so I put together a single tooth ripper for my mini excavator. This is just a mock up and it has to be welded.

I adapted this front end loader from (I think) a B6100 onto my B5100. I had to make a new subframe, and added a hydraulic pump driven off the front PTO since the built-in pump is too small to run a loader w/ 2" cylinder. I replaced all the hoses and added a 10 micron filter in the return line. The only tricky part was making an adapter to connect the pump to the 18 mm, 22 tooth spline on the front of the crankshaft. I ended up using a Fenner shrink disc to squeeze a sleeve onto the spline shaft.

Yeah, I know. They are probably an antique by now. I suspect there is some similar container out there that would work also.

I put my magnet on the end of a piece of brass rod and put the magnet in a pill bottle. To get it to drop something, just hold the bottle & raise up the magnet with the brass rod.

BTW, it's really difficult to put a photo on here. What am I doing wrong?
