Shocking! Can you help?

While you seem to have located the source of the voltage leak, I am still concerned about the grounding. The MH frame should be bonded to the panel ground or ground rod, which would give a path for the fault current (large or small) to ground. It doesn't seem this was happening.
Even if a device faults to ground, the grounded equipment housing or MH frame should conduct the fault straight to ground (path of least resistance).
The fault current should never pass through you (ie. when touching the door handle, opening the fridge.)
It's good that you found the source of the leakage, but you still need to check your grounding.

Prior to my retirement, one of my fellow firemen went to visit his grandmother and when he arrived she was outside, not normal for her, and she had black eyes and bruses all over her body. Of course, he asked what had happened to her and she told him that every time she went to go inside something knocked her out and she would wake up at the bottom of her steps. Being very concerned he immediately investigated and found that someone mowing the lawn had disconnected the ground wire from the ground rod and the aluminum door handle was hot and Grandma had been providing the ground.

The moment I read this thread this situation came to mind. My co-worker disconnected the main, attached the system ground and all was well, but he had a terrible time to convince Grandma it was o.k. to touch her door handle.

It appears that you have found the problem with a lot of great assistance. Another potentially bad situation resolved by the TBN membership.

Well done!

There was definitely a problem other than a disconnected ground wire...the neutral was open. I hope your friend didn't leave it at that and had the initial problem corrected.

Mace Canute,

I hope he resolved all of the issues involved too.

The incident I related to occurred approximately 20 years ago. What ever he did solved Grandma's shocking problem. She lived there comfortably for a number of years prior to passing.

Mace Canute,

It would have been helpfull if I had indicated the timing of the incident.

Thanks much for your concern.
