Problems with my B7800

Maybe its time to move to the City... Pushing a shopping cart home is good exercise and results in minimal damage to the equipment. You will be able to ascertain whether its the cart or the pusher...

Sorry I wasn't trying to be rude but if you look at your first post it just mentions the issues and no request for assistance. At times in the past people have just slammed a color or model out of frustration.

For example you say it won't start in the cold. Ok,

is it outside uncovered in the cold weather
how cold is it when it won't start
how long do the glow plugs prime for before you start
did you change the fuel filters, add diesel addative ect...

The more info you offer the easier it is to help.

No bow necessary....

I have a B7800 and my only problems have been "Mike-made".


1. Breaking too many shear pins on front end blower Lots of grease, make sure you're not shooting gravel, slow down if necessary. Shear pins are WAY cheaper than other parts.
2. Doesn't always start in cold weather Run the glow plugs longer. Clean fuel filter - making sure you don't have an ice jam
3. Thorns puncture tires Locust thorns can certainly do a job on tires. Even multi-flora rose if you're unlucky. This is one of the reasons I opted for the much disparaged R4 tires - less area for thorns to get into the thinner rubber. If you see this as a continual problem, consider foam-filling your tires.
4. Fuel gauge, lights don't work I had this - found that mice had made a nest under the dash and had some wire insulation for lunch. Fixed wire, sealed space, all works fine.
5. Tried replacing front lights but "gasket" disintegrated I can see this as a frustration.
6. Lots of plastic Did it have plastic when you bought it, or did some of the metal morph?

I don't get it. The B7800 is probably one of the most reliable, efficient and well-thougth out tractors ever built. It is remarkably trouble-free and if it were around 100 years ago would have drawn crowds from surrounding states to marvel at it's abilities. It could have worked a 60 acre farm and taken holidays and weekends off.

1. Don't have a snow blower...don't know the answer...problem with blower, not tractor?

2. Use power service additive or something similar to prevent fuel gelling. Put a block heater in and use it. No problems at all at my end with my B2910...

3. Foam fill your front tires. No problems at this end after the first couple hours I had my tractor. Rear tires don't seem to be a puncture issue. Which end is your issue?

Dont' know about your other issues as they are not issues for me...B2910 may have some differences from yours...about 800 happy hours here...

I wouldn't slow engine RPM, but rather slow ground speed.

Make sure the shearpins are for a tractor instead of a walk behind snowblower. When I got the wrong batch of shearpins I could break them if I engaged the pto to quickly.

This one's funny. If you think your B7800 has too much plastic, then don't ever, ever, ever get a newer model from ANY tractor manufacturer.

Hmmmm,

Added power service, no jelling problems.
Use the glowplugs for longer than I think I should, starts right up.
No problems with the lights.
D mn neutral sensor switch on the treadle needs to be fiddled with every once
in a while.
Very little plastic on my 7800.
The only thing that would make me happier is a cab.

1. Breaking too many shear pins on front end blower - I had a problem with rear blower breaking pins so I just started taking it easier on the icey snowbanks
2. Doesn't always start in cold weather - Mine came with a block heater-no problems even at -30C
3. Thorns puncture tires-I have R4 tires and use my B7800 for forestry work-no problems with tires
4. Fuel gauge, lights don't work-no problems with mine-maybe a fuse problem
5. Tried replacing front lights but "gasket" disintegrated - I have replaced my front bulbs with 50 watt halogens-works great
6. Lots of plastic- not mine-even the hood is metal
