Good point.You can use a 5/16 width hose clamp. The problem is the high pressure point discontinuity under the worm gear tightener. This must be blended in some way to get even, leakproof clamping. I have good luck using ~ 10 to 20 wraps of 1/2" teflon tape under the clamp. - - Teflon has an interesting "cold flow" characteristic that favors flow away from extreme pressure locations. It self adjusts toward an even clamp force. Tighten the clamp gently repeatedly for an hour or so til it stabilizes.
Or get one of the styles of clamp that are continuous under the screw. Personally, I have had too many issues with "standard" screw hose clamps.
