Level type recomendations?

At 34, it looks like you've got a lot of projects ahead of you.
Let me say, if the budget allows, you will never regret the convenience of a quality rotary lazer level. There are huge advantages to being dead nuts on the level rather than just pretty close.
Pop for the tripod and target so one person can level anything with in the range of the instrument.
Some models Also allow the instrument to be laid on it's side to project vertical lines for partition lay out.

While I agree to some extent it does seem a little over the top for this particular project. If the OP does a lot of his own construction and grading a slope laser may be beneficial to own. If he is standing up lots of poles and walls then a horizontal/ vertical laser may be beneficial to own. I use everything from the trusty string levels to high end slope lasers but the inexpensive torpedo level with the laser built in would work well for this project. The OP can decide whether he wants to spend $5 or $5,000 to level his poles.

I ended up grabbing a Zircon water level with 100' of tubing. I figure the fittings to fill & clamp the ends of the hose are worth the extra $20 over just 100' of plain tubing. Even if the electronics aren't worth it.

Still want a rotary laser, but just can't justify the price short or long term.

And I would prefer the Zircon water level over a $500 rotary laser for construction projects because the water level is more accurate.

And the batteries don't go dead in a water level.

All I can say is if he hasn't got it level by now, he better forget it.
