Hello Lou,

I hope you are tolerating the dry weather, I am for sure,
for once it is nice to see the clay all caked up and dried
out in my sod that passes for lawn.

Does the swing circuit cylinder on your shredder have a
relief valve or a flow metering valve?

I have not bothered to take the tarp off the Lawn Genie
pick up mower at all this season so far.

Leon
No it does not there is a mechanical breakaway swing on the hitch but no hydraulic relief.

Making progress on the repair, weld the gussets on the sides of the beam, then a shot of paint, clean the bushings real well, grease and assemble.

gussets cut out and drilled for plug welds...........top and bottom gussets welded on

Picked up the new Landpride FM2584 Fail mower last night. Hooked it up to my L6060 and took it out for a test mow. Set the rear roller for 6" cut and the front horse padock that is mixed grass and clover about 12" high. I used different speeds from 2.5 - 5 mph with rpm at 540 and it cut great except the long grass in the tire tracks. it was cut but ends up being about 2 ' longer than the grass not in the tire tracks. Went back and lowered the cut height to 5" thinking the mower would be able to pull up the long grass but did not make a large improvement.

The grass is really moist with about 5 ' of rain in the last 7 days in NE Ohio area so maybe if it was dryer it would pick up better.

Higher settings make for a lesser quality cut in my experience. My flail cuts what I consider acceptable beginning at about 3", which I think is where it's set now.

When I first got my old NH 918H the rotor turned in the opposite direction to the tires and it left the strip you are talking about. Fortunately the old flail could be made to turn in the same direction as the tires and now it picks up the pushed over grasses, no more strip.

My old Mott/Alamo I also have came from the factory with the rotor turning the same direction as the tires and it just makes more sense to me for that to be the way for the rotor to turn so it can pick up the pushed over grasses.

I cut around 5-6" high for better grass health. I deal with raised tire tracks a lot. Not worth it to mow fields & pastures low enough to get rid of the tracks.

I wonder how hard it would be to make hydraulic driven brush like system to pull the grass up after the tires but before the mower?

Peruzzo makes what is basically a hydraulically powered weed eater head that hangs off the side of the flail mower. For trimming fence lines. I don't remember if it was self powered with a hydraulic pump off the flail gearbox or ran off the tractor hydraulics. At any rate it was $1-2k 5 odd years ago. I'd imagine that would be a starting point.

There is a reason why every hay mower or green forage chopper are offset or front mounted. Once a tire rolls over something it is going to be knocked down and flattened.

Of course the other day one of my brothers came by, after I had butt welded the tubing and welded on the top and bottom straps. He was standing there and said would have been easier just to cut both ends off and just replace all the tube would have been less work and welding.
Yep, it sure would have, where were you last week with the good ideas :)

SOLD,
I don't know if this is allowed or not, mods do your thing.
I saw this on facebook marketplace a few minutes ago. Is is a good deal? Then my financial manager said no. It's anyone's game.
I do think it's a good match for my MF 451 though.
