i have a john deere B that is a 1950 i need to no if i can use motor oil in the hydraulis? and how much it takes? were is the drain plug at on the tratcor?

jd gets 90$ for the paper maual, and a bit less for the one on cd.
the thin flimsy aftermarket I&T manual is 1/3rd that price.
both of them are good reads and worth t he money.

forgot to mention.. I'm at work now and not near my manuals, and it's been way too long since I worked on a B.

10w-30 is good. drain plug is just in front of filter cap about seven quarts don't use hydraulic oil fill through the breather on top on the side should be a petcock to check your level

on some styles there is no breather on the crankcase they have a fill plug in the gear cover on the pulley side

some styles don't have the breather on the crankcase cover they have a fill plug in the gear cover on the pulley side of the main case
