Had my power steering hoses re-built about 10 years ago. That business no longer exists. Need to repair one of the hoses as it's starting to split. No hydraulic place locally except for a John Deere dealer and a car mechanic.
The both looked at the hose then scratched their heads, then took a sharp intake of breath, then told me that it would be expensive, very very expensive, due to the need to weld on a nipple to the existing elbow fitting.
I since found the parts list from when they were done last time.
Can anyone tell me if the elbow fittings were welded last time ("Tubeweld Nipple" on list), in which case, this repair would seem to be much simpler (and cheaper).
If it has already been cut and welded, can anyone tell me what would be left on the list that I should order then all I need to do is find someone to crimp the thing.

Only available off the shelf from overseas and unknown quality.

Thanks

Is this for the MF 240?
Yes and no. I have a first year of production 240 (ie 1979) built in the UK then exported and quite a few of the parts they used at the time were out of the 135 parts bin (waste not, want not)....the power steering being a case in point. So it's actually a 135 hose. So I'm assuming those listed for the later 240 may be different. They have different part numbers and Yesterdaystractors don't list a power steering hose for the 135...rarer possibly because power steering was an optional extra on the 135.....(welcome to my tractor model transition nightmare). In any case, I can't buy either hose in this country and even if I could, I'm not sure of the quality. https://www.qtponline.com/products/power-steering-pipe-1860322.html

Spoke to a mobile hose guy who said that the cutting and welding of the elbow had already been done last time, hence the invoice for the weld-on fitting. So this only needs two new ferrules and some hose. We agreed no more than $100 and I will post it to him.

Update: Decided to order a set of four hoses from Ireland. Figured if one is splitting, the others probably aren't far behind and I don't want this hassle again.
Got four of them for just under $200 including postage. Four of them rebuilt would have cost $400 plus postage.
