I don't mind 8 inches of snow...you just go out and plow.

What's worse is when you only get an inch or 2 and it's going to stay below freezing with another 2 inches in the forecast for two days later.

...it's Snow Removal Roulette...

Should I go plow 2 inches - or gamble and not plow...!?!

I took my tire chains off today ... Now we will probably get 3'!

Was 74° on Thursday, 22° this morning ...
Me too, but just for insurance, I left them piled up adjacent to the rear wheels where I park the tractor....

Please share.
Storm turned out to be a big bust here. 20" were predicted with blizzard warnings posted. Less than 3" of new snow on the ground now with a light wind. It appears to be over in my location at this point.

It depends, early in the season I'll just leave something that small and let it compact to a good base that'll make plowing real snow that much easier. I generally won't plow anything less than 4" but sometimes mid-winter I'll shovel it. Driveway's only a bit over 100', so it doesn't really take that long.

This is Houghton MI report. With the 6x6 in the shop, I'm using my Honda tracked blower which I de-tracked yesterday! Got it back on in less than a hour.

My BIL, who lives in the Boston area, sent us this picture from the Boston Globe. I thought reading the Head Line makes it kind of comical.

Where the closest storm sewer so I can set up my snow melter????????????????

Just one more reason to own bear paw snowshoes and rent out
a fleet of coal fired snow melting boilers if you live on the coast.

Last Friday night we got 5-1/2" of snow. It was loose and fluffy. The snow banks were getting pretty high and the sides were steepish, making it hard to get loose snow up and over. So I just piled the new snow up against the banks forming a nice ramp along them. If you do that after a few days the ramp will set up some and act to guide snow up and over the banks the next time you plow. This morning we woke to 3 more inches of snow so I decided to plow and get the accumulated snow out of the road and over the banks. I try to keep the road widened out enough to run the 9' plow down through it as long as I can.

I made this 1 minute video and I think you will see why I prefer using my truck rather than the tractor on this particular road.

I use a 7ft snow pusher on front and a 7ft blade on rear for light snow storms. I do have a 7ft rear blower which I very seldom use now.View attachment 5105188

Nice setup. My gear is very similar. Although my front "pusher" is a 7' angling plow with fabricated wings, so kinda like a pusher but no backdrag edge.
I used my rear blower earlier this month for an 8" snow. Some of my residential contracts are very challenging in where I can put snow, and the blower makes it much easier to put it exactly where I want.
