Good morning!!!!

25 and snowing now. Supposed to change over to freezing rain then just rain with a high of 44 or so. 6 of the next 8 days to be above normal temperatures. I will take that.

Good news on the wife Roy.

I never ice fished, but I did race motorcycles on the ice. Got pretty good at it too. Last rode about 10 years ago. May do it again just to say I did.

Well I need a 2nd cup of coffee. Need to get my head into work today. Have to make flash drives for a training session next week. Got the hard part completed yesterday with making sure everything is current. One of my favorite service techs is attending. In all of the years I have been doing this, this guy is one of the most talented techs I have ever met. Plus he has a great personality. So looking forward to seeing him.

Everyone have a safe and good day

33 and light snow, should change to rain late morning, predicting 1-2 of snow and then 1-2 of rain. It’s vey wet here.

Continued good wishes and prayers.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 20° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 34° with wintry mix. Weather radar shows it should be snowing right now. But nothing. Now that taxes are done I can get back to shop and other projects. Just have not decided what to do.

Rich, I tried motorcycle racing on the ice. Amazing how well you can make a motorcycle handle on ice. Gave it up for snowmobile racing.

Roy, prayers and best wishes for Suzette's continued recovery.

David, wife and I took similar classes when we were in our mid 60's. At that time the course taught us that to do the needed CPR would be difficult for most people our age. The class ended up being about how to respond to this type of emergency. Our group got AED and oxygen training. Both pieces of equipment were kept in the office. Today with both of us in our mid to late 70's neither one of us could do CPR. But we would sure it our best try. Call 911 first.

Good Morning All.

Interesting day. The CPR/AED class was quite informative. Unfortunately I also learned that in event of need most likely my wife won稚 be able to save me, unless the adrenaline really kicks in. Due to her injuries, she is not able to knee. Coupled with lack of strength in her arms and hands cannot get enough pressure on chest for compression CPR. The practice dummies have make a click sound when properly compressed. One of our neighbors also had difficulty, but did manage a couple of clicks, her husband was a bit upset.
It was interesting to learn that the AED will not cause harm as it performs own evaluation once hooked up.

How long would it take the ambulance by air or ground to get you to a facility with a coronary ICU that could provide intervention and stop a heart attack. In the country I witnesses several fast transports. The best time was two hours. Your heart starts to get damage after an hour of obstruction, still conscious just chest pain.

Use two scenarios 1. you can't walk to car and must call an ambulance and 2. you can walk to car and get someone to drive you to the hospital.

Scenario #1
1. realize something is wrong as pain increases - 10 minutes
2. call 911 and give information - 3 minutes
3. ambulance to receive information and drive here - 12 minutes
4. evaluation and start IV -15 minutes
5. transport to hospital - 20 minutes
total = 1 hour

Scenario #2
realize something is wrong and get to car (10 min) and have wife or neighbor drive to hospital (20 min) - 30 minutes.

AED and CPR are overrated, sure sometimes they work and those will be the one you hear about but when we lived in Houston with close everything the situations the ambulance responded to with the person unconscious and CPR was required there was a less than 5% survival rate. I do not know if that figure has gone up or down the last 20 years.

Think prevention.

Good morning! 39˚ heading to the 60s cloudy. Trail blazers was rained out yesterday. we are still trying to connect trails together to get a 5 mile segment connected by the grand opening of the new trail head in mid March. The weather is not cooperating.

Signed up for the next wood working class, the first time available was the first week in April. They have had an influx of new members this year - I think because of the floods in Houston. After the safety orientation there is still the training on each individual piece of equipment with a volunteer mentor. This will be like taking a college course it will take a good semester before I am trained and released on all the equipment. The cost for all this training is just $20 along with the yearly club membership fee which is $40. What a deal. I used to spend that much just on blades, sand paper, and drill bits every year for the basic wood working tools (saw, drill).

I can start immediately in the wood carvers SIG but that requires talent and patience with detailed work but it might speed up the training on some equipment as rough cuts are needed.

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 5:30AM. Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. Slight chance of a rain shower. High around 45F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

The nearest hospital on the south side of Paradise announced this week that they will not be reopening. The place was not well rated, but it was my best hope for emergency treatment...:confused2:

Surveyors showed up on time yesterday and went right to work. They were able to find one of the monuments on the property that was placed by the Department of Water Resources and was marked with a black on white sign about 1'x2'. It was buried in bush and the fire made it visible for the first time, another factor in me finally following through with the survey. They also plotted out the second corner of the lot, and confirmed the make-shift installed by the troublesome neighbor was "close". The third and last corner, they said, will require a bit more homework, so they'll be back next week to finish up. It's also the most geographically challenging, as it sits at the bottom of the drainage and at the foot of a cliff.

While they were busy outside, I wrote to the real estate agent that handled the sale of mom's boyfriend's lot, asking her to do a date-of-death estimate of its value. Then I made my own estimate using the price history data at zillow.com. That's all that's left to complete the income taxes for this year, and so far, between a federal refund and a state underpayment, it's almost a wash. The difference is in the deductions that California doesn't allow.

In an effort to do something that has a tangible result, I finished up the saw buck, then moved it outside to where it will be used. Now I don't have any more excuses for starting on the downed trees and brush, and getting a nice burn pile going...

Happy Hump day, folks!

43°F and a bit overcast this morning. Forecast is for 65°F and sunshine most of the day.

It was misting rain and chilly all day yesterday but, rain barely covered bottom of our rain gauges so, maybe 0.1 ".

It's actually starting to dry out here. I was able to mow the higher areas in our horse pasture Monday afternoon. But, it just kept getting softer ....... as I approached the lower areas. I'll try to get some more done today ..... as forecast is for rain the rest of the week.

Hoping for an excellent "hump day" for everyone.

Prayers to all.

You might want to check the closest smaller hospitals and ask if they have a coronary ICU. If they don't they will air lift you to the closest hospital that does at an extreme cost. It's fastest to first go directly to the further hospital that can offer intervention. The closest hospital in the country was the Lagrange hospital but if you were having a heart attack they would air flight you to Austin (about a 45 minute delay) because they did not have a coronary ICU and related equipment and doctors on call.
