Echo CS-356 leaks bar oil when it sits, anybody know why and how to fix it?
Thank you in advance

I have I think about 5 chainsaws now that I've accumulated through the years. Every one of them leaks bar oil...just the way they are designed. I've learned to either drain the oil out of the saw or keep it in a leak-proof container.

I thought I read about a fix once but I can't remember exactly what it was. Something in the oiler delivery? I'm not real fluent in saw mechanics.

I have a runny saw as well. Added a bottle of STP to the gallon of chainsaw oil and that slowed it down

Scoot, they all 'leak' bar oil no matter what brand they are and why I store my saws on an absorbent cloth always.

They inherently 'weep' bar oil simply because temperature changes will cause the bar oil tank to pressurize to a small extent and that pushes the bar oil out and through the bar oil pump and it drips so I counter that with them sitting on something absorbent. I use one of my wife's old whipped out bath towels and when it gets 'soaked', it goes in the burn pile.

Don't matter what make the saw is, unless the bar oil tank is completely empty, they will all pee to some extent.

My 075 and 090 Stihl shelf queens don't leak at all simply because both are totally devoid of both pre mix and bar oil.

Well, shoot. Good to know
I'll continue storing on many layers of heavy cardboard. Tossing out the top layer as needed.
Thank you

You might as well just pour it out on the ground before you put the saw away. I'm cheap--I pour the oil back into a container. Mine is like a squeeze ketchup bottle with a nozzle. It goes where my saws go.

I just bought a 194T that slobbered oil.
I took it back and got a new one, it stays dry.

My 261C seeps a bit. My 500i stays dry.

My Husqvarna 545 Mark II leaks a fair amount of oil. More than I would expect for such saw but it is what it is.

My 25+ year old Shindaiwa didn't leak much at all until I sent it for repairs and receive a box with it all taken apart, piece by piece. Then since I could no longer get the gasket for the two half cases, it leaks the bar oil from there. I need to fix that but I keep putting it away since I mainly use the Husqvarna.

I think it’s crazy that a saw leaks oil continuously after use. I could see a little right after shut down, but this one I just took back leaked like a 1/4 cup while sitting. I’m not paying for that.
I tried a DeWalt 60V battery saw and it leaked oil from day one badly. Glad to see that thing gone.
