ok wierd problem Wont turn off!

when i was a kid i worked for a welding repair shop part time the owner would always stop a run away diesel by taking a rag and holding it over the intake to choke the engine off, well he did until he had one really running full blast and it sucked 10 or 12 rags into the intake before choking...

never liked the ROPS now i have a reason

yes the ROPS is there to snag tree limbs and drop them on me, i spent my youth mowing hay in the hills of East Texas, nothing will make your @$$ pucker better than going over the crest of a steep hill driving on a pile of cut grass with a sickle running in part of your exit path.
  3. DaBear3428

never liked the ROPS now i have a reason

no doubt, error #1 was leaving the limb in the first place. #2 not cutting it off on the several incidents where i hit it but no damage. #3 forgetting about it while cruising thru dragging the box blade. I promptly fixed all of that on this one and any other limb that i could find. I have...

never liked the ROPS now i have a reason

property is mostly gentle slope but i have hi-way frontage with a steep embankment to mow as well as a pond that i dig out when the water dries out in it, coupled with the huge PITA that folding that ROPS is i just leave it up, also i sometimes get carried away with pulling up trees with the FEL...

never liked the ROPS now i have a reason

this is the reason i avoided a cab tractor (too many trees on my property) and this would have cost me a large pile of $s. but on second thought it would have been safer. that gives me an idea, honey see i need a cab tractor, and with a cab you know i need AC, yea her response will be pay more...

never liked the ROPS now i have a reason

that probably would have killed me as the limb would have hit me in the head. needles to say i ran my cordless chainsaw out of juice after this, i knew better but just too lazy.

never liked the ROPS now i have a reason

doing a little grading with the box blade over a path i have graded multiple times before without issue and then a tree jumps out and grabs the rops broke off and landed on me in the tractor. I was lucky, it hit me in the back and not the head and only took out the LH turn signal. It could have...

5145 and a ditch bank flail mower

I read that as the left port on the tractor fel control valve is the pressure in port and they are telling you to install the new valve between the pump and the fel valve. there is also the to tank output and as i understand it that output is not always used.
  15. DaBear3428

    Problems with the 5145

negative! an time i put fuel in this thing i really appreciate the fuel tank location. would not trade it for any other location, just need to find another way to retain the fuel cap.
  18. DaBear3428

    Problems with the 5145

as an update I have a little more insight into the fuel cap issue, the strap loops from the side of the tank up to the cap and brush hangs the loop and then catapults the top of the fuel cap into the brush. My strap is now broken where it wraps around the top of the cap. Im looking to find a way...

    5145 Hydraulics speed

what RPM are you operating at? mine is fine at 1500 or above and some times too fast at 2000 rpm, well it moves faster than the mental speed of the operator anyway. the flow rate of the 5145 is in the mid 8s so no slouch, but that is at rated rpm not idle.

    Problems with the 5145

the wheels are reversible, the FEL is rated for 3100 at the pins to full height and about 5400 breakout so it will be between those at mid lift, so you should be fine as long as you are not lifting to 10'. the factory joystick is prewired for a diverter but the W.R. long kit includes a new...

    How would you build this?

    How would you build this?

good to know but i would expect the filter to clean up any filings that changing the fluid would catch, and water which is only going to come out by heating the fluid and gets back in from sitting should not be an issue, had not thought of the cheap fluid. I will change that at next opportunity.

Welder / Wiring for Small Garage

and my point is that that spec is met and exceeded by my advice and i have already given my reasoning behind my advice, can he possibly get by with less yes but there are limitations on that spec page did you get that? also note my advice factors in an allowance for higher duty cycle equipment.
  136. DaBear3428

Welder / Wiring for Small Garage

max is correct the min conductor size is less than the amps of the cb required to run the machine due to duty cycle of the unit. it is a welder receptacle and if something else is plugged in the owner needs to re-evaluate the install. I would still not do it this way unless i was very certain...
  137. DaBear3428

Welder / Wiring for Small Garage

so the point you are making is that the min circuit conductor size is less than what i stated? Granted on this specific unit that is true, I would still run #10 and a 30 amp breaker you could go down on the conductor size but this is an extension to an existing service that has some VD to it...

Welder / Wiring for Small Garage

actually it would trip faster under a fault condition and be the same otherwise, as others have stated other than making it fit and cost considerations, no problem, in fact it is sometimes required to meet voltage drop requirements.
  139. DaBear3428

Welder / Wiring for Small Garage

you can install a 50a outlet on any size wire you want, the circuit breaker needs to be 50a or less, the load has to be less than the wire size but nothing stopping you from installing upgraded components as long as they meet/exceed the requirements.
